Summer Light
1872- c.1950, American

This watercolor of two crab apple trees by Dexter Dawes measures 12 x 16 inches and is pencil signed and dated 1948. Dawes was born in Englewood, NJ and went on to study at New York City's Art Student League. He summered in Marlboro, NH surrounded by beautiful gardens with views of Mount Monadnock which became the inspiration for many of his lithographs and paintings. He belonged to a number of associations including the National Arts Club.


Chinatown, Monterey

This 1886 etching by the American artist, Blanche Dillaye, titled: China Town, Monterey Ca, the image measures 3 1/16 x 4 7/16 inches, pencil signed, plate remarque of the title on left border and one of young chinese boy on right border, after the painting by W. A. Reaser,this etching is printed on Satin, an unusual but beautiful surface to print on. Dillaye studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts with Thomas Eakins, learned etching from the master printmaker, Stephen Parrish.
