1837 - 1914, German/American Autumn in Virginia Oil on canvas, image size 21 x 26 1/2 inches, ornate period gilt frame, signed l.l. "Max Weyl". Born in Germany but brought to the US as a child, Weyl became one of the most popular landscape painters of the Washington D.C. area. In 1879 he traveled to Europe and was greatly influenced by the Barbizon style and for the next two decades his landscapes of the D.C. area won him renown.

1837-1889, American The Barnyard Chicken Oil on board, image size 5 x 7 1/4 inches, c. 1860s, signed, in original frame. Batcheller was a well-known artist in Providence, RI in the late 19th century, specializing in still life paintings. He was also one of the founding members along with Charles Walter Stetson, George William Whitaker, and Edward M. Bannister of the Providence Art Club. Provenance: Waterman, Gilder and Picture Framer, Providence, RI.

1819-1878, American Woodland Stream at Sunset Oil on board, 8 x 5 7/8 inches, c. 1860s, signed "J Hamilton" l.l., in a period gilt frame. Born in Ireland, James Hamilton emigrated to America in his teens and had a very successful career as an artist, becoming known for his landscapes and marine paintings. This intimate landscape is features the soft light of sunset touching the water and the leaves of the trees in a way that brings the entire scene to life.
