Prints

This is an original wood block print by Jamaican artist  Albert Huie.  This image is titled: In The Woods, created and printed circa 1945.  This woodblock is hand signed and titled in pencil in the lower border.  The image measures 9 1/2X7 1/2 inches.  

Albert Huie (1920-2010) was a seminal figure in the formation and development of a national Jamaican artistic identity, overcoming the hurdles of a colonial-based system of race and class distinctions to become the first native-born Jamaican artist to attain international renown and respect. Working primarily in the areas of landscape, portraiture, and figurative art, he established a multiple award-winning career that spanned seven decades and earned him the title of “the Father of Jamaican Painting.”

Numbered 63 out of 100 in the lower left in pencil, pencil signed in the lower right. Plate signed and dated in the lower right. A rich impression with drypoint burr.

This is an original pencil signed etching by American artist Lawrence Kupferman.  The title of this work is:
"Victorian Carriage House". This etching was created and printed in 1939 and is editioned as 13/100.  The etching is signed and titled in the lower border, the image measures 9 3/4X11 5/8 inches.

Etching printed on May 6th, 1908. 2nd state. Pencil signed and pellet stamped. Plate signed and dated. Large remarque of a beetle in the right corner. Image measures 11 1/8 x 5 1/2 inches. Catalog reference: Arwas 353.

"The Three Sisters" by Sir Francis Seymour Haden measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/4 inches, pencil signed, 1868, state VI/V, cat: Schneiderman-119. Sir Francis Seymour Haden was one of the most important British etchers of the 19th century, along with his brother in law James Whistler. In addition to being a highly regarded artist he was a successful surgeon, accomplished author and dedicated angler. He was a founder and the first president of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers, and was knighted in 1894.

This is a fine pencil signed lithograph by French impressionist Edmond Francois Aman-Jean.  This image measures 13 3/8X14 5/8 inches.  Very fine condition, printed on a wove type paper.  The subject is Mile Moreno  who played in  the Comedie Francaise show this image was created and printed in  1898

This is a rare etching by American artist of the Southwest, George Elbert Burr.  The title is: Whirlwinds, Mojave Desert, California no. 2.  It was created and printed circa 1930.  This pencil signed and titled etching measures 8X10 inches.  This appears in the Burr catalog as image number 281.

This is an original wood block print by American artist Isac Friedlander.  Created circa 1930 this image is titled: "Companions", It is pencil signed and titled in the lower border.  The image measures 11 3/4X9 3/4 inches.  Printed on a medium weight wove type paper.  Isac Friedlander (1890-1968) was born in Mitau, Latvia. He was arrested in 1906 and imprisoned by Russian authorities for anti- Czarist Political activities from 1906 to 1912. He studied art at the Academy of Rome, Italy from 1913 until 1917. He was a friend of Russian writer Maxim Gorky. Friedlander began his printing career in 1915. In 1917 he repatriated to Russia during the Kerensky regime, but in 1929 Friedlander immigrated to the US with the encouragement of his cousin Joseph Hirshhorn.

This is an original etching by Belgium artist Jules DeBruycker.  It is titled Ruelle Gand, it was created and printed in 1906.  Hand signed and titled in pencil, Le Ruelle.  The image measures 13 1/2X5 1/2 inches.  Printed on a medium weight laid type paper.  With a Van Gelder watermark.

This is an original pencil signed etching by American artist Charles Adams Platt.  The title of this work is "Pier at Larmor".  It was created and printed in 1885.  The image measrues 14 1/8X8 1/2 inches.  One of a series of Dutch etchings that he created during this period of travel in Europe.  This is included in the Platt catalog as image number P-55.  Framed.

This etching with sandpaper ground was created and printed by American artist Harold Kerr Eby.  The title: Little Franklin is named for a Ledge located off the coast of Friendship Maine.  The image measrues 8 1/2X14 5/8 inches.  Printed in an edition of 100 in 1937.  Eby left a skim of unwiped ink on the plate to create tone in the water.  A fine impression, nicely framed with archival materials.
