Color aquatint. Numbered in pencil in the lower left, 2/25. Pencil signed in the lower right. Plate signed in the lower left. Plate measures 8 x 10 inches on 8 7/8 x 11 3/8 inch wove type paper. Small registration holes on either side of the print. Meyerowitz studied at the National Academy of Design in NY and is best known for his development of producing etchings in color. His work is at the Metropolitan Museum of Art; Carnegie Institute; National Academy of Design; Harvard University and the Library of Congress.

This was the original lithographs from the Panama Canal Series created in 1912 by the American artist Joseph Pennell.  The title of this work is: The Approach to the Canal from the Pacific.  This impression done on a Fabiano watermarked laid paper is hand signed in pencil with collectors annotations in the lower edge of the sheet.  The image measures 16 1/2X 22 inches, on a sheet size of 20 1/2X25 1/2 inches.

This is an original hand signed etching by American artist Isac Friedlander. The title of this work is "Hear Oh' Israel", it was created and printed in 1944. One of the artists War aftermath motifs . This etching is inscribed as Trial Proof #2, from the later published edition of 50. The image measures 14X9 1/2 inches.Isac Friedlander (1890-1968) was born in Mitau, Latvia. He was arrested in 1906 and imprisoned by Russian authorities for anti- Czarist Political activities from 1906 to 1912. He studied art at the Academy of Rome, Italy from 1913 until 1917. He was a friend of Russian writer Maxim Gorky. Friedlander began his printing career in 1915. In 1917 he repatriated to Russia during the Kerensky regime, but in 1929 Friedlander immigrated to the US with the encouragement of his cousin Joseph Hirshhorn.

This is a fine example of his Spanish Church Series by American artist John Taylor Arms.  The title is: Puerta Del Obispo, Zamora (The Bishop's Door, Zamora)  This etching was created and printed in 1933.  This image printed on a grey toned, watermarked, laid type paper measures 12 1/2X7 1/8 inches.  It is inscribed "to my friends, mr. and mrs Andrew Daglish"  (The British printmaker and his wife)  The beautifully detailed image appears in the Fletcher catalog as image number 266.

This is a fine original lithograph by American artist Don Freeman.  One of his State series, this image measures 9 5/8X11 7/8 inches.  Hand signed in pencil.  This lithograph was printed in an edition of 85.  A fine back stage view of the stage hands, some at Pinochle, while  "up in the Fly loft, the curtain always comes down to the split second."  This image appears in the Freeman catalog as image number 97.

This is an original aquatint etching by American artist Lester G. Hornby.  It is titled: Marabout Tombs, Tunis, 1909, and is described in the plate as: "Evening of the Bal Masque", the image measures 9 1/2X14 1/2 inches, pencil signed lower right corner.  Printed on a medium weight laid type paper.  This is a very scarce etching.  It appears in the Falk catalog as image number 301.

An excellent example of the artistry of the American printmaker, John Taylor Arms. This image measures 12 1/4 x 7 3/4 inches, pencil signed and dated 1925, from his Spanish Church Series #5, printed by Frederick Reynolds in an edition of 152, cat: Fletcher 164. John Taylor Arms was one of the foremost American printmakers of the 20th century, known for his exquisite compositions and exacting details which gave his etchings a very realistic, almost photographic appearance. He specialized in images of European architecture and cathedrals.

This is a fine modernist wood engraving by American artist John P. Heins (1896-1969)  This wood engraving was created and printed 1936 in an edition of about 28, created for the WPA in NYC.  The image measures 5 7/8X7 3/4 inches.  This is a rare unstamped proof purchased from the artist's estate.

This etching with sandpaper ground was created and printed by American artist Harold Kerr Eby.  The title: Little Franklin is named for a Ledge located off the coast of Friendship Maine.  The image measrues 8 1/2X14 5/8 inches.  Printed in an edition of 100 in 1937.  Eby left a skim of unwiped ink on the plate to create tone in the water.  A fine impression, nicely framed with archival materials.

This is an original wood block print by Jamaican artist  Albert Huie.  This image is titled: In The Woods, created and printed circa 1945.  This woodblock is hand signed and titled in pencil in the lower border.  The image measures 9 1/2X7 1/2 inches.  

Albert Huie (1920-2010) was a seminal figure in the formation and development of a national Jamaican artistic identity, overcoming the hurdles of a colonial-based system of race and class distinctions to become the first native-born Jamaican artist to attain international renown and respect. Working primarily in the areas of landscape, portraiture, and figurative art, he established a multiple award-winning career that spanned seven decades and earned him the title of “the Father of Jamaican Painting.”

This is an original drypoint etching by American artist Kerr Eby.  The title is: Burns Brothers, Sutton Place New York, it was created and printed in 1922 in an edition of only 50.  The image measures 12 1/4X8 3/4 inches.  It is hand signed in pencil with the "imp" after his name which means he printed this impression himself in his studio.

Burns Brothers is the New York City coal company that had many depots along the East River including this one at 56th street and Sutton Place.
