Prints

Etching and drypoint, early proof of this rare image, image size 7 7/8 x 11 7/8 inches, 1911, cat: Schwartz-76, inscribed "probedruck" (test print) l.l. and signed l.r. both in red crayon, blindstamp l.l. just below image. Corinth began his art career studying at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich and went on to study under Bouguereau at the Academie Julian in Paris. He then returned to Germany and became a member and then president of the Berlin "Sezession".

This is a fine example of the important etching by Jean Baptiste Corot. This etching is titled: Enviorns De Rome, it was created in 1866, this proof is the second state A. of three. Printed on Holland Paper, This printing had the addresses of:" Cadart and Luquet Editeurs, 79 Rue St Jacques 303 Paris" A rich impression, Catalog Delteil 6 II/III. Framed, previously sold by Kennedy Galleries in New York.

This is a fine portrait study by British artist Gerald Brockhurst.  The subject is James McBey the well known British etcher.  This etching was created and printed in 1931 in an edition of 111.  This pencil signed impression measures an image size of 10 1/2X7 1/2 inches. This etching was Illustrated in  Fine Prints of the Year, 1931.  Cat. Fletcher 69.

This is a fine original color aquatint etching by French artist Manuel Robbe.  The title of this work is: La Coquette.  It was created and printed circa 1905.  It is hand signed with pen and ink in the lower right border.  Printed on a medium weight laid type paper.  The image measures 14 1/8X10 3/16 inches.  This image appears in the Merrill Chase catalog as image number 22.  A fine example of his "belle epoque" style of expression.  In a fine Foster Brothers gilt frame.

This is a very fine original hand colored aquatint etching by French artist Manuel Robbe.  The title is: La Tasse De The', it was created and printed in 1906 in an edition of 100.  The image measures 19 1/4X 14 3/4 inches.  Printed on a medium weight laid type paper, "Arches" watermark.  Very fine condition, hand signed in pencil in the lower right in the image.

This is an original color aquatint and drypoint etching by French artist Manuel Robbe. This image is titled "Le Dernier Roman" The plate measures 20 1/2X14 1/2 inches. It is hand signed in pencil in the image and editioned as number 55. This etching is framed and originally sold by Merrill Chase Galleries, label on the back.

This etching by Arthur Briscoe measures 7 7/8 x 11 7/8 inches. Ink signed and numbered on cream laid paper, 1924. Cat: Hurst-85. Framed. Briscoe is known as one of the finest marine etcher of the 20th. century. He owned his own three ton cutter which he used to sail around the Essex coast. Also crewing on a Polish ship, he sketched every aspect of life on the boat. He studied at the Slade Art School and the Academy Julian in Paris.

This is an original drypoint etching by American artist Mary Cassatt.  The title is Denise holding her Child, created in 1905, this image is the first state of two, printed on an Ivory  laid type sheet.  The image measures 8X5 3/4 inches.  Unsigned as issued.  This image appears in the Breeskin catalog as image number 204.  

This is a fine original etching  by American artist James Whistler.  The subject is: Steet at Saverne, it was created and printed in 1858.  This etching was part of the French Set, It is signed lower left,"Whistler", and also has the publishers name and address lower right edge of the sheet., "Imp, Delatre, Rue St. Jacques".  This image was created in 4 states, this one is 3/4.  The image measures 8 1/8X6 3/16 inches.  Printed on an antique laid type paper

This is an original lithograph by Japanese American artist Yasuo Kuniyoshi.  It is titled The Cyclist.  It was created and printed in 1939 and originally sold through Associated American Artists in New York.  The image measures 12 1/2X8 3/4 inches.  Printed on a medium weight wove type paper.  This lithograph is clearly signed in pencil lower right by the artist.  One of his images from his circus series.

This is a fine color aquatint etching by French artist Manuel Robbe.  The title of this work is Cabinet de Toilette.  It was created and printed in1904 in an edition of 65.  It is hand signed by the artist in pencil and inscribed bon a tirer. It was published by Edmond Sagot in Paris.  The image measures 17 1/2X11 3/4 inches.  Nicely framed with archival materials.

This is a fine early printing of the well known etching, Bibi Valentin by American artist James M Whistler.  This etching created in 1859  is impression II/II before the plate was damaged.  It came to us with the original Kappel label on the back.  A fine rich impression printed on a thin laid japan type paper.  Signed  and dated within the plate.  Glascow 34.

This fine color etching and aquatint is by French artist Manuel Robbe.  The title is: Les Bibelots.  It is hand signed in pencil lower left within the image.  Very rich impression, the image measures 19 5/8X13 3/8 inches.  Printed on a medium weight laid type paper with the "arches" watermark.  Numbered as 46 from the edition of 100.

This is an original mezzotint by British artist Sir Frank Short.  The title is: "Moonrise on the Bure"  This mezzotint was printed in 1922, the image measures 11X15 7/8 inches, printed on a medium weight wove type paper, pencil signed lower right and monogrammed in the plate lower left corner.  A beautiful rich impression, very subtle tonal range throughout.  Beautiful condition.

A fine example of the Drypoint work of French artist Jacques VIllon. The title of this work is :"L'Epingle A Chapeau", the hat pin. This image was created and printed in 1909. The image is editioned lower left as 12/20. A rare image. The drypoint measures 15X12 inches, printed on a medium weight, watermarked, laid type paper. very fine condition, a rich impression showing a velvet burr of ink throughout the figure.
This drypoint is clearly signed in pencil by the artist lower right border.
