This is a remarkable original etching of the intricate facade and Rose window of Beauvais cathedral by American artist John Taylor Arms. The image size is 12 x 7 1/8 inches, 1925, French Church Series #3, cat: Fletcher 161, pencil signed and dated. John Taylor Arms was one of the foremost American printmakers of the 20th century, known for his exquisite compositions and exacting details which gave his etchings a very realistic, almost photographic appearance.


This is one of the finest etchings by American artist James Whistler.  This image titled: "Black Lion Wharf" was from his Thames series created in 1859.  This image measures 5  7/8 X 8 3/4 inches. Printed on a laid type paper with watermark.  This is an early printing between state iii/iv of iv.  Very richly inked with extensive plate tone throughout.  Very good condition, signed and dated within the plate at the right side of the image.


This is an original etching by American artist John Taylor Arms (1883-1953)  The titile of this work is: "Venetian Mirror. (The Grand Canal, Venice.)".  This etching was created and printed in 1935 in an edition of 146 signed proofs.  This one has the artists "Private Collection" in pencil lower border, it is also pencil signed and dated and inscribed to: "To my Friend Frank G. Kennedy Jr.  and signed again John Taylor Arms"..  The image measures 6 3/8X14 1/8 inches.  Beautiful use of plate tone in the sky and sea.  Printed on a medium weight laid type paper, the overall sheet size is: 10 1/4X18 1/2 inches.  A beautiful impression in excellent condition.


This is a drypoint etching from 1939. #40 in his "French Church" series. Catalog: Fletcher 317. Edition of 312, an early proof of the second and final state. The blue paper and inky fingerprints on the back of the paper indicate that this is likely a trial proof. Plate measures 14 3/4 x 12 inches on blue watermarked laid paper. Alternatively titled "The North Portal of Chartres Cathedral." Pencil signed and dated in the lower right. Winner of the Artist Member Prize, Annual Exhibition, Baltimore Water Color Club, The Baltimore Museum of Art, 1939. It took the artist about 1,000 hours to etch this print, and upon closer inspection of the captivating detail in every single piece of stone, it's clear to see why. One of his most sought-after prints.


This is an original etching by American artist James M Whistler.  The title is "Eagle Wharf", this image was created and printed in 1859.  Signed and dated within the plate.  The image measures 5 7/16X8 5/16 inches.  It is printed on a thin Japan paper which is rare.  This is the only known state before the plate was cancelled.  Its is from is series of Sixteen etchings on the Thames. (The Thames Set) A very fine impression.  Annotated lower left border, "'Tyzac Whiteley & Co"  an alternate title. catalog number is K-41.


This is an original color aquatint etching by French artist Manuel Robbe.  The title is: Femme A L'Estampe, Woman with Print.  It was created and printed circa 1906 in an edition of 100.  The image measures 21X14 7/8 inches.  It is editioned lower left and signed in crayon lower right.  A beautiful French style gilt frame.  Beautiful condition.


This is an original etching by British artist Gerald Brockhurst.  The title is:
"Dorette", it was created and printed in 1932 in an edition of 111.  The image measures 9 1/8X7 1/4 inches.  This is the first of 3 Portraits that Brockhurst created of Kathleen Woodward.  She was the girl that the artist left his wife for and was known as Dorette.   An impressive impression, one of Brockhurst's most expressive  portraits.  Nicely framed.  This impression includes a handwritten letter to the former owner by Dorette Brockhurst when she sold this etching many years ago.


This is an original etching by American artist James Abbott McNeill Whistler.  The title is: "La Mere Gerard".  It was created in 1858 as part of the "French Set", created in Paris.  "The sitter probably posed for this etching in Paris in the autumn of 1858, but possibly earlier. Whistler was in Paris until 14 August, and on his return from the Rhineland, after 7 October 1858."  This printing is state 4 of 4 with the edition of the printers address at the bottom edge: "Delatre. Rue St. Jacques. 171".  This is a very rare early printing of that state, done on a sepia colored chin collet adhered to a thicker sheet of Wove type paper.  Under the plate mark is the Whistler pencil signed butterfly monogram.The image measures 5 1/16X3 1/2 inches.  This image appears in the Kennedy catalog as image number 11.  A beautiful, richly inked impression. This etching came to us with a partial label from Kennedy Galleries, N.Y.  Quite Rare!



One of the finest portrait etchings ever  created by British artist Gerald Brockhurst.  "Henry Rushbury", created and printed in 1930.  Rushbury, like Brockhurst studied at the Birmingham School of Art and the two later shared an apartment in London.  Rushbury was an accomplished etcher as well...  This etching is very richly printed, the subtle tonal range is incredible in person, our scan doesn't .do this image justice.  Absolutely one of the finest portraits .  This etching measures 10X7 3/8 inches, pencil signed and titled by the artist in the lower border, printed in an edition of 111.  Very fine condition.


This is an original etching by American artist James McNeill Whistler.  The title is: The Adam and Eve Tavern, Old  Chelsea.  This etching is plate signed with the butterfly monogram in the upper left sky.  The image measures 7X11 15/16 inches.  Printed on a medium weight laid type paper.  This etching was created in 1878.  It is the third state of 3.  A rich impression of this scarce composition.


This is an original etching by James Whistler.  The title is: "Thames Police"  It was created in 1859 as part of his Thames Set series on life on the river.  The image measures 5 15/16X8 7/8 inches.  Printed on a thin laid type paper.  Very richly inked, the Fifth state of Six.  An early rich inking.  Good condition, there is a tear upper right corner of the border, away from the image area.  Enough border for proper presentation.

Original pencil signed drypoint etching by American artist Frank Benson 1862-1951. The title of this work is "The Landing", created and printed in 1915 in an edition of only 50. The image measures 7 1/4X11 1/4 inches. Printed on Shogun watermarked paper. The etching appears in the Ordeman catalog as image number 70. The setting of this image was Fox Island on Penobscot Bay. Excellent condition matted not framed. Editioned as 46/50.


This is an original pencil signed color  etching by French master Manuel Robbe.  This color etching is titled: "Examen Intime" it was created and printed in 1901 in an edition of 100 signed proofs.  This etching has an image size of 12 3/4X9 3/4 inches. This color etching was published by Editions Sagot in Paris with their blind stamp in the lower border.  This image was last sold  by Merrill Chase Gallery in Chicago.  It is beautifully framed and has all of their gallery information on the back of the frame.  This etching is in flawless condition, the colors are bright.


THis is an original color aquatint etching by French artist Manuel Robbe.  This etching titiled: "Les Liseuses", The readers, also known as The Picture Book was created and printed in 1903, It is editioned as 45/65 in pencil lower left and hand signed by the artist in pencil lower right.  The image measures 19 1/8X14 7/8 inches.  This etching is nicely framed with archival materials.
