Most collectors consider this etching, "Venetian Mirror" (The Grand Canal, Venice) by John Taylor Arms his masterpiece....This original etching created and printed in 1935 has an image size of 6 1/4X14 1/4 inches on a sheet size of 10 3/8X18 inches. It was printed on a laid type paper with the "David Strang" watermark. Strang was also the printer of this edition for Arms, numbered "II" with edition of 100 written in pencil. There is also an inscription to Mr. Kenneth Jaffray Warm Regards, and signed twice in pencil. The detail is beyond belief, a true "tour de force". By one of the finest American printmakers. This etching appears in the Fletcher catalog as image number 289. Archivally Framed.
This is a drypoint etching from 1939. #40 in his "French Church" series. Catalog: Fletcher 317. Edition of 312, an early proof of the second and final state. The blue paper and inky fingerprints on the back of the paper indicate that this is likely a trial proof. Plate measures 14 3/4 x 12 inches on blue watermarked laid paper. Alternatively titled "The North Portal of Chartres Cathedral." Pencil signed and dated in the lower right. Winner of the Artist Member Prize, Annual Exhibition, Baltimore Water Color Club, The Baltimore Museum of Art, 1939. It took the artist about 1,000 hours to etch this print, and upon closer inspection of the captivating detail in every single piece of stone, it's clear to see why. One of his most sought-after prints.
This is one of the most dramatic train etchings created by American artist Otto Kuhler. The title is "The Panting Brute", created and printed in 1933. A very large image measuring 13 1/4X16 15/16 inches. Pencil signed in the lower right border. Kuhler was an automobile and train designer as well as an artist and etcher. He created the well known American trains."The engine, 'Hiawatha', rolled out of the Schenectady, New York yard in May, 1935. It was the first streamlined steam locomotive to be built from scratch in America. " His industrial subjects are his most popular among collectors.
This is one of the finest sporting etchings by well known American artist Frank Benson. The title of this work is "Deer Hunter", it was created and printed in 1924 in an edition of 150 signed proofs. The image measures 7 7/8X10 7/8 inches. Printed on medium weight wove type paper, pencil signed lower left border. Very good condition apart from some old paper tape glue remains at the extreme edges of the sheet, well outside of the image area. Fine use of Plate tone in the River area.
One of the finest portrait etchings ever created by British artist Gerald Brockhurst. "Henry Rushbury", created and printed in 1930. Rushbury, like Brockhurst studied at the Birmingham School of Art and the two later shared an apartment in London. Rushbury was an accomplished etcher as well... This etching is very richly printed, the subtle tonal range is incredible in person, our scan doesn't .do this image justice. Absolutely one of the finest portraits . This etching measures 10X7 3/8 inches, pencil signed and titled by the artist in the lower border, printed in an edition of 111. Very fine condition.

The image measures 7 1/4X11 1/4 inches. Printed on Shogun watermarked paper. The etching appears in the Ordeman catalog as image number 70. The setting of this image was Fox Island on Penobscot Bay. Excellent condition matted not framed. Editioned as 46/50.
This is an original etching by American artist James Abbott McNeil Whistler. The title of this image is "Soupe A Trois Sous", It was created and printed in 1859 and according to the Glascow catalog this image was never published. The etching measures 5 7/8X8 7/8 inches, printed on a thin Japan laid paper, very fine condition, nice use of plate tone in the foreground. Soupe à trois sous ' is French for 'Soup for three sous', which was very cheap soup, and implies that the restaurant was a very basic café/bar. Whistler's first title, 'Café des Pieds Monilles' implies a particular café. 'Café des Pieds Monilles' is almost certainly a garbled reference to the Parisian Café des Pieds-Humides ('Café of the Wet Feet'). However, this title seems to have been immediately rejected in favour of the more familiar ' Soupe à trois sous '.(glascow)

"Le Bouquet de Violettes", it was created and printed in 1903 in the first edition of only 65 signed proofs. A larger edition was published after the signature was added to the plate. This etching is hand signed in pencil lower right. The image measures 17 1/2X11 3/4 inches. A fine impression, previously sold by Merrill Chase galleries, it appears in the Chase catalog as image number 105. Robbe studied at the Academie Julien and the Ecole des Beaux Artes in Paris.
With his hand application of color no two images look exactly the same, a very painterly technique.

This etching has an image size of 12 3/4X9 3/4 inches. This color etching was published by Editions Sagot in Paris with their blind stamp in the lower border. This image was last sold by Merrill Chase Gallery in Chicago. It is beautifully framed and has all of their gallery information on the back of the frame. This etching is in flawless condition, the colors are bright.
This is an original etching by Scandinavian artist Anders Zorn 1860-1920. The title of this piece is "The Swan", (Svanen) It was created and printed in 1915, one of his most impressive of the nude bather series of his etchings. The image mesures 9 3/4X 7 5/8 inches. Printed on a laid paper with an extensive crown watermark. The etching is signed and dated lower right and also hand signed in pencil in the lower right border. Fine condition, wide borders all around, a very slight line of toning where an early window mat lay, not visible in the new matting. The image appears in the Hjert & Hjert catalog as image 276.
