Drypoint from 1885. Catalog: Rice 70. An etching of the covered bridge with the Statehouse in the distance. Plate measures 11 1/2 x 17 1/2 inches on 19 1/2 x 25 1/4 inch handmade Japan paper. Pencil signed in the lower right, plate signed, titled, and dated in the lower left. This print has good plate toning and a rich drypoint burr. C. A. Platt was born in New York and studied art at the National Academy of Design, the Art Students League and the Academie Julian. He was a very successful painter and etcher, known for his delicately rendered New England landscapes and harbor scenes. He was also a very talented architect and a member of the Saint-Gaudens Art Colony in Cornish, NH.

This is an original pencil signed wood engraving by Latvian American artist Isac Friedlander. This image is titled Self Portrait, New York and dated 1935. The image measures 10 3/4X8 3/4 inches. Isac Friedlander (1890-1968) was born in Latvia. In 1912 he went to Italy where he met and worked with Russian artist Maxim Gorky. During this period he also received his only art training, studying etching, drawing and relief printing at the Academy of Rome. In 1937, he emigrated to New York where he worked full time as an artist until his death. He is best known for his woodcuts and etchings, and many museums have works by the artist, including the Smithsonian, Bibliotheque Nationale, and the Brooklyn Museum.

This etching is titled: "La Fille a sa tante", the girl with her aunt....This etching was created and printed in 1893 in an edition of 100. It came from his series "Les Petites du Ballet", (the Little ones of Ballet). The image measures 14 1/4X8 3/4 inches. Printed on a medium weight wove type paper, pencil signed lower right border. An original etching by Piranesi from his 'Vedute di Roma' series, this image measures 17 7/8 x 27 1/4 inches, state V/V, 1766, cat: Hind-78. From the 'Regia Calcographia' edition c. 1870s, with the blindstamp in the lower right corner. Piranesi was an Italian artist and designer, best known for his series of etchings of Ancient Roman ruins, the "Vedute di Roma". These striking, monumental images of the ancient grandeur of the Roman Empire provided inspiration for many of the artists of the Neoclassical movement in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.

Hand signed in pencil by the artist in the lower border. The image measures 17 1/2X9 7/8 inches. The work appears to be in excellent condition, nicely framed with archival materials.
This is an original etching by American artist Kerr Eby. The title is Driftway, which was Eby's home in Westport, Connecticut. This etching has an image size of 8 3/8X14 inches. It was created and printed in 1928 in an edition of 90. Eby left a skim coat of ink to create tone in the sky. This etching is pencil signed lower right with the "imp" after his name meaning that he printed this impression himself. This was the first depiction that he did of this subject. He later in 1931 created Driftway, Moonlight,1933, Driftway, Evening and Days End, Driftway in 1939. This image appears in the Giardina catalog as image number 132.

Plate measures 11 5/8 x 15 1/4 inches on 15 1/8 x 19 inch watermarked wove type paper. An atmospheric etching that captures the bleak weather with splashes of color. F. Simon was born in Bohemia, now the Czech Republic. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and traveled extensively throughout Europe, as well as Asia and the U.S. He lived in Paris from 1905-1913, then returned to Prague to teach at the Academy of Fine Arts. Simon was an exceptional painter and printmaker, and is best known for his atmospheric color etchings and aquatints, such as this wintry Paris scene.
This is a very rare etching from a scarce, unpublished plate by Francis Sydney Unwin. The image size is 12 1/8 x 16 inches, 1916, pencil signed; a richly inked impression on a fine cream colored Japan paper. Unwin studied at the Winchester School of Art and the Slade School; he traveled extensively throughout Europe and spent several months in Egypt drawing the tomb interiors for an archaeological expedition. He then settled in London, becoming known for his landscapes and remarkable interior architectural views, such as this finely detailed image of the Albert Hall. Unwin died at the age of 40, after suffering from tuberculosis for much of his adult life.
