This is a fine oil on canvas painting by Lyme Connecticut artist Henry Pember Smith.  This Summer scene at the pond is signed lower right,  Henry P. Smith, The canvas measures 14X18 inches,  This painting is in very fine condition.  Best known for his Cottage scenes in and around Connecticut.  Nicely framed in a later gold frame.

This is a very fine painting of a man and his dog fishing. Oil on canvas, 18 x 26 inches, c. 1880, signed in the lower left corner,by Francois Vuagnat. Francois Vuagnat was born in Geneva in 1826. and died in 1910. He was a well known Artist and Photographer. Housed in a 19th century frame with gold liner. A fine scene with the man's trusty companion awaiting dinner.

This is a fine oil on wooden board by American artist Charles Paul Gruppe.  This scene of a springtime river is signed lower right Ch P. Gruppe.  The painting measures 12X16 inches.  Very fine condition, recently cleaned and varnished.  Housed in a fine Period carved frame.

Gruppe.  On the back is an old label with the title: In a Dutch Canal, Delft.  This painting from circa 1900 has a canvas size of 8X11 1/2 inches.  Housed in a reproduction 19th century gilt picture frame.

This is an original painting by American artist Platt Powell Ryder.  This scene of the Village Market Place was painted circa 1870, signed by Ryder lower right with ANA after his name, when he was an established member of the National Art Academy.   The painting is oil on board, framed underglass.  Excellent condition in what appears to be the original 19th century frame.  The painting itself measures 7 3/4X10 1/4 inches.  The frame itself has some chips to the corners.

This painting of Harbor Traffic is dated 1874.  The painting measures 12X20 inches. We are selling this work as 19th century American School in the style of Silva... Our price reflects our uncertainty about the authorship of this work..... Nicely framed in a period gilt frame.  Fine detail and color, this is an outstanding work of art.  

This is a fine original watercolor/gouache painting by American Marine painter Frederick Judd Waugh.  This painting created circa 1910 of a Sailboat race off of the rocky coast measures 10X14 inches, signed lower right and nicely housed in  a custom frame.  

Waugh was the son of a well-known Philadelphia portrait painter, Samuel Waugh. He studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts with Thomas Eakins, and at the Académie Julian in Paris with Adolphe-William Bouguereau.

In his later years he lived on Bailey Island, Maine, and in Provincetown, Massachusetts.  Waugh is best known for his seascape paintings on the Northeast Coast ..

This is a fine original oil on board painting by American artist William Henry Howe.  This image of Village life in Normandy France.  A subject that he was well known for in the late 19th century.  This view of carts unloading the days catch has an image size of 9 3/4X13 1/4 inches.  The painting is signed lower left William Henry Howe. with a partial date after the name.

Oil on Academy Board, 12 x 9 inches, signed and inscribed "M. v. Schmaedel/München" lower right, period frame. The sitter is identified in a copy of a letter dated August 3, 1905, from Seth Mendell to William C. Davenport, President of The Machinists' Bank, Taunton, Massachusetts, in an envelope affixed to the back of the painting. Provenance: Estate of N. David Scotti, Providence, Rhode Island.

This is an original oil on board painting by British artist Sir Hubert Von Herkomer (1849-1914)  This interior view of a woman at the table is signed lower left corner.  The painting measures 13 X 9 1/4 inches.  Housed in a period gilt toned frame with brass plaque. Herkomer was a  Bavarian-born British painter, pioneering film-director, and composer. Though a very successful portrait artist, especially of men, he is mainly remembered for his earlier works that took a realistic approach to the conditions of life of the  London poor.  This is a fine example of his early work, circa 1890.

This is an original oil on mahogany Panel by French artist Georges Lucien Boichard.  This painting is signed and dated 1883 upper right.  The painting measures 13 1/4X9 1/4 inches.  It is housed in a period gilt frame with added inner liner.  Boichard was a well known French Portrait artist.  He lived in Paris and his work was accepted to the Paris Salon in 1880.  The overall frame measures 23X19 inches.

This is an original oil on canvas painting by New York State artist Milton H. Lowell.  The subject is of an old rural homestead seen in early Autumn. This painting was created between 1890 and 1910. This work is signed lower right M.H. Lowell and has an image size measuring 16X24 inches.  Very nice condition, recently cleaned and lined, housed in a period gilt frame.

This is an original oil on canvas by American Marine artist Marshall Johnson.  This view of a Sailboat in a stormy sea.  This painting measures 14X18 inches.  It is clearly signed lower left corner.  It came to us in what appears to be the original turn of the century picture frame.  The painting is in superb condition, no evidence of any repairs or inpainting.  "Born and raised in Boston, Marshall Johnson set sail for South America aboard the ship Sunbeam at age of eighteen. Tragically, the ship caught fire and burned at sea, and Johnson was one of only twelve survivors. This harrowing experience did not dampen Johnson’s enthusiasm for the ocean, however; he returned to Boston and took classes at the Lowell Institute and the Boston Art Club, and then studied painting with well-known marine artist William E. Norton. By 1884, Johnson had opened his own studio at 12 West Street in Boston"

This is a fine original oil on canvas by French artist Hermine David 1886-1970.  The subject is a group of strollers in Luxembourg Gardens, Paris.  This painting done circa 1930 is signed lower right and measures 18 1/8X15 inches.  Housed in a custom French style frame.  Hermine was one of the Ecole de Paris artists.  In 1918 she married Jules Pascin.  Their association seems to have been an influence on the artwork of both artists.
