Engraving by Fabio Berardi, after Giuseppe Zais. The italian inscription at the bottom reads "there is no lack of escort to the wise traveler." Print measures 8 3/4 x 13 inches on 9 1/2 x 13 7/8 inch laid type paper.


Conte engraving by Roubillac, printed by Le Clere. "Roubillac Sculp" in the lower right. Print measures 8 1/2 x 6 1/4 on chine colle. This engraving is very rare!

The Young Hostess

Drypoint etching from 1660. Catalog: Hollstein, Bartsch 34. 3rd state of 5. Inscribed in the lower left is the printer's address: "I Covens et C. Mortier Excudit." Pencil signed "Etch'd by Bega" in the lower right. Plate measures 7 x 6 inches, thread margins on a backing sheet.

Het Gesprek (The Conversation)

This 17th century engraving by the Dutch artist, Cornelius Visscher, measures 9 7/8 x 8 1/2 inches, c.1655, on laid paper with partial collectors seal on back. "A.V. Oftade pinxit et excud., C. Visscher fecit aqua forti. and Ger. Valk Excudit" printed on bottom margin. Born into the city of Haarlem during the early decades of the 17th century where a diverse artistic community prospered, Visscher became one of the most accomplished and celebrated printmakers of the time.

Adrianus Stalbent

This is an original engraving by Paulus Pontius after the painting by Anthony Van Dyck. The image size is 9 5/8 x 6 3/4 inches, c. 1700s, inscribed "Ant. van Dyck pinxit" and "Paul. du pont sculpt" in the lower left margin, with the title and a phrase in Latin below the image, with the original Kennedy Gallery label. Stalbent was a Flemish landscape painter and friend of Anthony Van Dyck when this portrait was painted.
