Le Soldat des Régions Envahies

This is a dramatic lithograph of a group of soldiers in the midst of battle in France during WWI. The title means roughly "the soldier from the invaded region." The image size measures 17 x 12 inches in a black 24 1/2 x 18 1/2 inch frame. Plate signed in the lower right. Hand signed and numbered. Lucien Jonas was an official military artist in France during WWI and traveled extensively through the front lines, creating many paintings, drawings and prints depicting the heroism and bravery of the soldiers on the front lines.

Lithograph from 1939. Pencil titled, signed and dated in the lower right. Numbered 15/15 in the lower left. Print measures 9 7/8 x 12 7/8 inches on 12 3/4 x 16 5/8 inch thin wove type paper. A charming print with good tonal range.
