From his French Church Series #47, this 1947 award winning etching by John Taylor Arms measures 13 3/8 x 6 7/8 inches, pencil signed and dated, edition of 198, state II, cat: Fletcher-47. This image won five major awards between 1947 and 1951 including 1st Prize at the Annual Exhibition of the Chicago Society of Etchers in 1949. John Taylor Arms was one of the foremost American printmakers of the 20th century, known for his exquisite compositions and exacting details which gave his etchings a very realistic, almost photographic appearance.

Sunday Morning

Etching, image size 11 3/4 x 22 1/2 inches, 1981, pencil signed and annotated "artists proof." A wintry view of the chapel on the campus of UMass Amherst, where the artist was a professor from 1971-2002.

Swallowtails

This original signed etching by the American artist Hans Kleiber measures 10 3/4 x 9 1/4 inches, pencil signed and titled, AAA label included. Kleiber was a Wyoming painter, illustrator and etcher. Born in Germany and coming to the US as a young man, he became a forest ranger with the U.S. Forest Service. His love of the land and its' wildlife instilled a lifelong interest in the protection and preservation of it. His career as an artist started with his use of watercolors and oils but eventually led him to the craft of printmaking.
