20th Century American Prints

This wood engraving by Barry Moser is one of 25 images from his "Gold Rush" series. Published in 1985 in an edition of 350, it measures 7 x 4 inches and is pencil signed by the artist on the lower margin. These images all portrayed gold mining activities from America, Africa and Australia. Moser, from Tennessee, became a graphic artist and printmaker studying under Leonard Baskin and Jack Coughlin. In 1990 he became the "head of studio art" at the Rhode Island School of Design and his prints have been exhibited at the Berkshire Museum, the Los Angeles National Print Show and the Library of Congress National Print Exhibit. Moser states in his description of these images of the "consumate dilemma" between the mining and the owning of gold, the high price politically, physically and spiritually that these men and their families pay for their dreams of a better life.

This is an original woodengraving by American artist Hendrik Glintenkamp.  It is a european street scene with a clock tower.  The image measures 5 1/4X4 1/8 inches.  Pencil signed and numbered 15/16.  Printed on a medium weight wove type paper.

This Dexter Dawes lithograph of the New York skyline from across the Hudson measures 14 x 17 inches. Dawes was born in Englewood, NJ and went on to study at New York City's Art Student League. He summered in Marlboro, NH surrounded by beautiful gardens with views of Mount Monadnock which became the inspiration for many of his lithographs and paintings. He belonged to a number of associations including the National Arts Club.

THis is an original pencil signed etching by American artist Samuel Chamberlain.  The title is:The Market Place, Bourges, created and printed in  1928.  The image measures 6 3/4X5 3/8 inches.  It appears as image number 253 in the Chamberlain catalog. Boston Public Library
