20th Century American Prints

This is an original etching by B. J. O. Nordfeldt, titled: La Rue St Jacques Paris.  This etching was created and printed circa 1910.  The image measures 12 1/2X10 1/2 inches.  hand signed and titled in pencil.  Printed on a medium weight wove type paper.  There are a few pressure creases on the side borders, likely from the original printing press.  Unobtrusive.  Sold originally from Arthur Harlow Co in New York.

This is an original etching by California artist John Winkler.  The title is: Delicatessen Booth, San Francisco, created circa 1920 this etching is hand signed in pencil lower left border.  The image measures 11X6 1/2 inches.  " Winkler studied at the California Institute of Arts and published his first original etching in 1915. During the following eight years he established a large national reputation for his etchings, the great majority being depictions of San Francisco and its environs...Like Whistler, Winkler had the ability to capture life and movement with the utmost simplicity." This is an original etching and aquatint by American artist Samuel Margolies.  This view of a Farm in winter is pencil signed lower right border, printed in an aqua toned ink. The image measures  8 1/4X11 3/8 inches.  Printed on a medium weight laid type paper with a partial watermark.

This is a fine drypoint etching by American artist Sears Gallagher.  The image of Farmers Haying has an image size of 7X8 7/8 inches.  This image is hand signed in pencil, done circa 1930, printed on a medium weight wove type sheet.

This is a fine drypoint etching by American artist Frank Benson.  This image titled Geese was created and printed in 1917,  It is from the third state of 3 printed in an edition of 29 signed and numbered proofs.  This one is numbered 27,  Printed on a thin Shogun paper, the image measures 10X15 1/8 inches, a very rich impression.  The image appears in the Ordeman catalog as image number 124.  There are some repaired tears in the border areas, not into the image.

This is an unusual underwater view.  An original wood engraving by American artist Leo Meissner.  The title Aquatic World, also known as Submarine World,  Created and printed circa 1940.  The image measures 8X10 inches.  Hand signed and titled in pencil.  Numbered 51/55.  This wood engraving is in fine condition, printed on a thin Japan like sheet.

This is an original pencil signed etching by American artist Lester G Hornby.  This etching created and printed in 1907, one of his series of Paris scenes that he created from his travels in France.  This image is titled Jour De Marche, St. Medard.  Numbered as 2/50.  This image has the stamp of the Lester G. Hornby Collection.  The image measures9X5 3/4 inches.  Printed on a medium weight "Whittman" laid type paper.

This is an original etching by American artist Lester G Hornby.  The titled is: The Seine at Notre Dame, Paris, created and printed in an editiion of 60 in 1910.  The image is pencil signed and titiled and came from the artist's own collection with his personal collection stamp lower left border.  The image measures 8 7/8X10 7/8 inches, printed on a medium weight "Arches" watermarked laid paper.

This is an original pencil signed and titled wood engraving by American artist Isac Friedlander.  The title is: Son. 34,  created and printed Circa 1931.  The image measures 7 3/8X 5 7/16 inches. Illustration to Shakespeare's Sonnet XXXIV, "Why didst thou promise such a beauteous day"  

This is a scarce original wood engraving by American Modernist Leonard Baskin.  The title is: Three Women Before a Plain, created and printed in 1952.  The image, pencil signed, measures 3 1/2X4 1/2 inches on a sheet size of 17X17 inches, printed on a thin japan type sheet,  The image appears in the Fern O'Sullivan catalog as image number 214.

Aphrodite

Etching, image size 9 3/8 x 5 3/8 inches, pencil signed and titled. Hobbs was a well known artist from Ohio who studied art at the Art Institute of Chicago. He traveled extensively through Europe and the US before settling in New Orleans. He won many awards and honors for his work, and spent two summers as a resident at the MacDowell Art Colony in Peterborough, NH.

A fine Luigi Lucioni etching, Elm on the Hill, created and printed in  1948 published by Associated American Artists in New York in an editiion of 250.  This pencil signed impression measures 12 1/4X9 7/8 inches.  Printed on a medium weight wove type sheet.  The image appears as number 105 in the Embury catalog.

This is a fine pencil signed and titled etching by American artist Marguerite Kirmse.  The title is: Idle Hours, created and printed in 1926.  The image measures 7 1/8X5 1/4 inches.  Very fine condition, printed on a medium weight wove type sheet.

This lithograph by Dexter Dawes measures 12 3/4 x 17 inches and is pencil signed on the lower margin. Dawes was born in Englewood, NJ and went on to study at New York City's Art Student League. He summered in Marlboro, NH surrounded by beautiful gardens with views of Mount Monadnock which became the inspiration for many of his lithographs and paintings. He belonged to a number of associations including the National Arts Club.
