Clipper Ship at sunset, 1861

This is a fine unsigned painting of a Clipper Ship at Sunset by British artist George F. Teniswood.  Created circa 1861, this painting came to us as a pair of similar works with one identified and signed on the back, the other missing the backing information.  (likely lost in the reframing)  This painting measures 8X11 inches, oil on canvas with wooden backing board.  The board itself was cracked and we glued a piece of matboard onto it so the canvas would not be affected.  The work is in very nice condition housed in a period gold frame.
