Known as the "Etcher Laureate of the Rockies", this early 20th century etching by Hans Kleiber measures 7 3/4 x 10 7/8 inches, pencil signed.. Born in Germany and coming to the US as a young man, he became a forest ranger with the U.S. Forest Service. His love of the land and its' wildlife instilled a lifelong interest in the protection and preservation of it. His career as an artist started with his use of watercolors and oils but eventually led him to the craft of printmaking.

Published in 1948 in an edition of 250 by Associated American Artists, it is pencil signed and titled on the lower margin. Kleiber was a Wyoming painter, illustrator and etcher. Born in Germany and coming to the US as a young man, he became a forest ranger with the U.S. Forest Service.
