Etching from 1896. Catalog: Rief 11, Wohl 11d (von f). An early impression. Pencil signed in the lower right with the word "Worpswede," the artist's colony that he was a part of. Image size measures 5 1/2 x 3 inches, plate measures 6 5/8 x 4 1/4 inches, on laid 11 1/2 x 8 3/4 inch paper. A haunting image with interesting linework.
This is an original rare etching and aquatint by German artist Heinrich Vogeler (1872-1942) The title: Weihnachten translates: Christmas, was created and printed in 1912 in an edition of only 30 impressions. This etching printed in blue toned ink has an image size of: 14 7/8X11 1/8 inches. The platemark measures 15 5/8X 11 5/8 inches. Printed on a soft wove type paper. Pencil signed lower right, published by Otto Felsing,Berlin, in pencil lower left, titled lower center border. Very fine condition, a rich impression. A fine example of German expressionism. This image is cataloged as Rief 48a.
