Franklin at the Court of France, 1778

This is an extremely large hand colored engraving by William Overend Geller, after the painting by Baron Jolly. This engraving is titled: "Franklin at the Court of France, 1778". It was published in Philadelphia in 1853. The image measures 27 1/2X 37 3/4 inches on a sheet size of 31 1/2X40 inches. This engraving was originally sold with the edition of hand coloring in watercolor. The colors are very rich, the sheet is linen backed but in very good condition. Sold unframed.

Deer Seated

This is an original engraving by French artist Joseph Hecht (1891-1951) This study of a Deer was created and printed cira 1929. It is hand signed in pencil lower right and also editioned as number 11. This engraving was printed on a blue toned laid type antique paper with a shield watermark. The image measures 6X9 inches. Joseph Hecht, painter and printmaker, was born on December 14, 1891, in Lodz, Poland. He studied at the Academie Beaux-Arts in Krakow between 1909 and 1914.

S. Chunegundis Augusta

This is an original engraving by Raphael Sadeler (1560-1628) The title of this work is "S. Chvenegvndis Avgvsta" Created and printed in circa 1600. Printed on an early laid paper the image measures 9 3/4X7 1/2 inches. Thread margins on the edges, Identified in typeset upper and lower margins.

Anna Comitissa De Bedford

This is an original copper engraving by Pierre Lombard (1613-1682) It is a portrait of "Anna Comitissa De Bedford", The wife of William the Fifth, Earl of Bedford.
This engraving circa 1660 was a copy of the Van Dyck painting at Woburn Abbey The platemark measures 13 7/8X9 1/2 inches. This engraving is tipped to a thicker mounting sheet with collectors annotations on the bottom.

A wood engraving from 1941. Pencil signed and dated in the lower right, editioned in the lower left. Edition of 75. Plate measures 5 1/2 x 9 inches on 8 1/4 x 11 3/4 inch laid paper. Catalog: BPL 312. This print exemplifies Nason's mastery of the medium and familiarity with the landscape as he captures the light and shadow of the clouds over the mountains in captivating detail. Known as the "Poet Engraver of New England", Nason was a prolific artist who specialized in incredibly detailed, atmospheric wood engravings of the New England landscape.
