A beautiful drypoint etching by the New England artist, Chauncey Foster Ryder, measuring 9 3/4 x 11 7/8 inches, pencil signed with Chicago Society of Etchers blind stamp on the l.l., in an edition of 325, 1943. Ryder studied at the Art Institute and Smith's Academy in Chicago before enrolling at the Academie Julien in Paris where he studied for two years. His work was exhibited at the Salon from 1903 to 1909. Upon his return to the States, he divided his time between NY and Wilton, NH where he was able to draw from the landscape much of his subject matter and a consistently recognizable style.
