This is a fine original lithograph by French artist Eugene Carriere.  The title is Homage to Tolstoy (Consolation) Created and printed in 1901.  This impression is hand signed lower right border.  The image measures 9X6 inches, printed on a Hand made Japan type laid sheet.  This lithograph is nicely framed with archival materials.  "Eugène Anatole Carrière was a French Symbolist artist of the fin-de-siècle period. Carrière's paintings are best known for their near-monochrome brown palette and their ethereal, dreamlike quality. He was a close friend of Auguste Rodin and his work likely influenced Pablo Picasso's "

Gorsline.  The title is: Brooklyn Local.  THis etching was created and printed in 1945, published by Associated American Artists in New York in an edition of 250.  Hand signed in pencil beautiful condition, printed on a medium weight wove type paper.  The image measures 8 3/8X6 3/4 inches.

This is an original etching by American artist Stephen J Ferris.  Titled: Dreamland it was created and printed in 1883, published by Klackner in New York.  This image was done after the painting by Charles D. Weldon.  One of the finest examples of reproductive etching from the 19th century.  The image measures 16X25 1/2 inches on a sheet size of 21X30 inches.  Hand signed by both the etcher and the painter in the bottom border.  A fine remarque of a lady lower border.  Printed on a medium weight wove type paper.  This large etching is in beautiful condition.

This is an original etching with aquatint and drypoint by French artist Louis Legrand.  The title is: L'Habillage (Dressing)   a back stage view done for  the La Petite Classe, a series of 12 images  that Legrand created as a portfolio in  1908.  The image measures 16 3/4X11 3/4 inches.  This was the 4th state of 5 which includes the Remarque of a racehorse, printed in an edition of 30.  Signed in pencil and numbered,14/30.  This image appears in the Arwas catalog as image number 369.  This etching printed on a buff toned sheet is archivally framed.  This image was used as the cover of the Arwas catalog.

This is an original drypoint and aquatint etching by French artist Jacques VIllon, The title is: Petite boudeuse, created and printed in 1905 in an edition of 50.  Hand signed in pencil, the image printed in sepia ink measures 13 3/4X9 inches.  This image appears in the Ginestet/Pouillon catalog as image number 129 ii/ii.

This is an original etching by well known Swedish artist Anders Zorn.  The title is: Dal River, created and printed in 1919.  This impression measures 7X4 5/8 inches, printed on a medium weight laid type sheet.  hand signed in pencil lower right.  This image appears in the Asplund catalog as image number 284.  One of his series of nude bathers that he is well known for.

This is an original pencil signed mezzotint by American artist Allesandro Mastro-Valerio.  This study of two bathers at the ocean has an image size of 7X6 3/4 inches.  Numbered as 20/35.  A scarce image by this well known artist and master of the modern mezzotint.  Printed on a heavy weight wove type sheet.  He was a member of the Chicago Society of Etchers,  He is best known for his mezzotint* prints, particularly his female nudes.  His work helped to revive mezzotint as an artistic medium in the United States.

This is an original hand signed etching by American artist Isac Friedlander. The title of this work is "Aftermath" alt. "Outcasts", this etching was created and printed in 1944.
This etching was created in an edition of 30 signed proofs, this one is inscribed as "Trial Proof #2", the image measures 14X11 inches, printed on a medium weight wove type paper. The artist's view of the aftermath of war in Europe.
Isac Friedlander (1890-1968) was born in Mitau, Latvia. He was arrested in 1906 and imprisoned by Russian authorities for anti- Czarist Political activities from 1906 to 1912. He studied art at the Academy of Rome, Italy from 1913 until 1917. He was a friend of Russian writer Maxim Gorky. Friedlander began his printing career in 1915. In 1917 he repatriated to Russia during the Kerensky regime, but in 1929 Friedlander immigrated to the US with the encouragement of his cousin Joseph Hirshhorn.

During this period he also received his only art training, studying etching, drawing and relief printing at the Academy of Rome. In 1937, he emigrated to New York where he worked full time as an artist until his death. He is best known for his woodcuts and etchings, and many museums have works by the artist, including the Smithsonian, Bibliotheque Nationale, and the Brooklyn Museum.

Etching, image size 6 x 9 1/8 inches, cat: Melot- C.7, later printing without Cadart lettering, possibly after it was removed. This is a very nice impression with wide borders, printed on a medium weight cream colored laid type paper. This atmospheric image from Corot's series of Italian landscapes is a great example of his ability to capture the life and movement of the scene with loose spontaneous lines and rich tones.

Original etching by the British artist, Arthur Brisco, measuring 6 1/2 x 10 7/8 inches, 1926, signed and numbered; 62/75, cat: Hurst-158. Britain's "General Strike" was the theme of Brisco's dramatic image of "The Orator". The strike, mainly by coal-miners upset with their goverments' reduction in wages and worsening conditions, also included dockers, printers, power station workers and transport workers, thus Brisco's interest in the subject.
