20th Century American Prints

THis is an oriignal lithograph by American artist Michael Mazur.  This image from his Images from a Locked Ward series created and printed in 1965.  This image is titled, The Occupant", The image and sheet size measures 26X20 inches.  Printed in an edition of 75 published by Impressions Workshop Inc. This lithograph is hand signed in pencil lower border.  Printed on a wove Arches buff toned sheet.  Mazur volunteered to conduct art therapy sessions at the Howard State Institute in Providence R.I. there he  created the series, "Closed Ward"  and later "The Locked Ward".  This is image number 3 from that series.

Closed Ward Series, Her Place, #8, created and printed in  1962 , in an edition of 30.  Printed on a Fabriano Murillo wove type sheet.  This  etching and aquatint, measures 23 3/4X17 ¾ inches. Hand signed lower border in pencil.  Mazur volunteered to conduct art therapy sessions at the Howard State Institute in Providence R.I. there he  created the series, "Closed Ward"  and later "The Locked Ward".  This is image number 8  from The Closed Ward Series.

This is an original pencil signed etching by American artist Harold Kerr Eby.  The title is: Lobster Fleet, created and printed in 1937.  A fine atmospheric study of a lone fisherman in the foggy morning bay.  This image measures 9 1/2X11 1/2 inches.  Printed in an edition of 100.

From His Closed Ward Series, Portrait #2 created and printed in 1965.  Hand signed in pencil.  An edition of 25 this image measures a sheet size of 25 7/8X19 7/8 inches.  Printed on an Arches wove type sheet.  Mazur volunteered to conduct art therapy sessions at the Howard State Institute in Providence R.I. there he  created the series, "Closed Ward"  and later "The Locked Ward".  This is image number 8  from The Closed Ward Series.

This is a fine drypoint etching on copper by American artist Frank Benson.  The title is Rising Geese, it was created and printed in 1924 in an edition of 150, printed on Whatman Paper.  The image measures 6 7/8X8 3/4 inches.  This image appears in the Ordeman catalog as image number 238

This is a great London etching by American artist Clifford Addams, image size 8 7/8 x 7 1/2 inches, c. 1902, edition of 75, inscribed in the plate, "Loci dulcedo nos attinet" (the sweetness of the place holds us), pencil signed and numbered. Clifford Addams grew up outside Philadelphia and studied art in the U. S. before leaving to further his studies in Europe. He traveled extensively throughout Holland, France, Spain, Italy and Britain, and spent several years in London studying etching with Whistler. He later returned to the U. S. and worked out of studios in both New York and London. He was known for his European city scenes, such as this Whistleresque image of a man gazing out over the busy Thames.

A very fine original lithograph by New York artist Harry L Taskey. Image size 11 1/2 x 15 3/4 inches, c. 1935, edition of about 25, published by the New York City WPA Project, pencils signed and titled.

This is an original pencil signed etching by American artist Joseph Pennell.  The title is The Woolworth Building, created and printed in 1915 in an edition of 100.  The image measures 11 3/4X7 3/8 inches.  THis image appears in the Wuerth catalog as image number 675.  This is a fine impression with 1/8 inches borders on two sides.  Typical of the printing of Pennell.  Framed.

The is a beautiful original wood engraving by American artist Leo Meissner.  The title is: Canyon Grandeur, Sabino Canyon, Arizona.  This pencil signed and titled image was created and printed in 1954.  This is numbered as 7/65.  The image measures 7 1/2X8 1/2 inches.  Beautiful condition.  Printed on a medium weight wove type sheet.

This is an original pencil signed etching by American artist Warren Davis.  This image is titled After the Bath, created and printed circa 1920.  The image measures 8X6 inches.  Printed on Rives watermarked wove type sheet.   Warren Davis is best known for his depictions of idealized female figures. He studied at the Art Students League in New York. Davis is particularly well known as a magazine illustrator and many of his depictions of ethereal appearing women adorned the covers of Vanity Fair.  (NVFA)

Peggy Bacon studied with John Sloan and Kenneth Hayes Miller.
