Aphrodite

Etching, image size 9 3/8 x 5 3/8 inches, pencil signed and titled. Hobbs was a well known artist from Ohio who studied art at the Art Institute of Chicago. He traveled extensively through Europe and the US before settling in New Orleans. He won many awards and honors for his work, and spent two summers as a resident at the MacDowell Art Colony in Peterborough, NH.

This is an original pencil signed and titled wood engraving by American artist Isac Friedlander.  The title is: Son. 34,  created and printed Circa 1931.  The image measures 7 3/8X 5 7/16 inches. Illustration to Shakespeare's Sonnet XXXIV, "Why didst thou promise such a beauteous day"  

This is an unusual underwater view.  An original wood engraving by American artist Leo Meissner.  The title Aquatic World, also known as Submarine World,  Created and printed circa 1940.  The image measures 8X10 inches.  Hand signed and titled in pencil.  Numbered 51/55.  This wood engraving is in fine condition, printed on a thin Japan like sheet.

This is a richly inked original etching of the town of North Adams in Western Massachusetts. Image size 10 3/8 x 7 1/4 inches, 1923, signed, titled and dated in the plate, pencil signed and titled.

This image by the American artist Joseph Pennell measures 8 x 11 inches, unsigned proof, 5/5, cat: Worth-366, 1910, Frederick Kepppel label on back. Pennell was an important American etcher, lithographer and illustrator. Good friends with James McNeill Whistler, he and his wife co-authored his biography. Pennell was known for his continued experimentation with technique and style, producing cityscapes, landscapes and marine scenes.

Lithograph, image size 12 3/4 x 19 3/4 inches. Signed, titled and inscribed "To Edna-with Love, Renee & Chaim Gross 72" l.r., numbered "9/10" l.l. One of the first generations of direct carvers, Gross came to the US in 1921 and worked for the WPA in the late 1930's. He was an illustrator, sculptor and instructor teaching at the Education Alliance School in NYC.

This is a fine drypoint etching by American artist Sears Gallagher.  The image of Farmers Haying has an image size of 7X8 7/8 inches.  This image is hand signed in pencil, done circa 1930, printed on a medium weight wove type sheet.

This is an original etching by B. J. O. Nordfeldt, titled: La Rue St Jacques Paris.  This etching was created and printed circa 1910.  The image measures 12 1/2X10 1/2 inches.  hand signed and titled in pencil.  Printed on a medium weight wove type paper.  There are a few pressure creases on the side borders, likely from the original printing press.  Unobtrusive.  Sold originally from Arthur Harlow Co in New York.

A richly toned etching by George Hand Wright measuring 8 7/8 x 11 7/8 inches, pencil signed and titled. George Wright studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, Paris and Munich before settling in New York where he was an illustrator for Harper's and The Saturday Evening Post. He exhibited at the Art Students League and was a member of the Salmagundi Club and the Society of American Etchers.

A great original etching by Leonard Baskin, from his 'Portraits of 10 Artists' series. Plate size 14 1/2 x 17 5/8 inches, published in 1964 in an edition of 50 by Herman D. Schickman, Delphic Arts, New York, cat: Fern & O'Sullivan- 473, pencil signed, titled, and numbered "31/50".

This is an original etching by American artist Martin Petersen.  It is a view of Metal Workers in the studio.  This etching is hand signed and dated 1920.  The image measures 7X8 inches.  This etching is nicely framed with archival materials.

This is an original etching and aquatint by American artist Samuel Margolies.  This view of a Farm in winter is pencil signed lower right border, printed in an aqua toned ink. The image measures  8 1/4X11 3/8 inches.  Printed on a medium weight laid type paper with a partial watermark.
