This i an original oil on canvas painting by british artist Henry (of Hull) Moore This painting is titled in the frame, Sailing with the Wind and Tide,  on a label on the back it reads The  Mouth of the Medway.  The painting measures 15X30 inches and came to us in the original Gilt period frame which measures 24X38 inches.  The painting is in good bright condition, nicely framed and clearly signed in the lower left corner.  Moore is the well known British painter from Hull.  Known for his marine paintings and off shore scenes.

This is a very fine painting of a man and his dog fishing. Oil on canvas, 18 x 26 inches, c. 1880, signed in the lower left corner,by Francois Vuagnat. Francois Vuagnat was born in Geneva in 1826. and died in 1910. He was a well known Artist and Photographer. Housed in a 19th century frame with gold liner. A fine scene with the man's trusty companion awaiting dinner.

This is an original oil on panel painting by Dutch artist Karel Frans Philippeau.  The title on the brass plaque reads, The traveller's Tale, created circa 1870.  The panel measures 13 1/2X17 3/4 inches.  The painting came from the Regent Street London Gallery, The British Galleries.  Inscribed on the label, "We the undersign guarante this to be a genuine work by Philippeau".   Housed in an Ebonized period frame.  The painting is signed Philippeau lower right corner.  The painting is in very fine condition.

This is an original painting by American artist Platt Powell Ryder.  This scene of the Village Market Place was painted circa 1870, signed by Ryder lower right with ANA after his name, when he was an established member of the National Art Academy.   The painting is oil on board, framed underglass.  Excellent condition in what appears to be the original 19th century frame.  The painting itself measures 7 3/4X10 1/4 inches.  The frame itself has some chips to the corners.  

This is an oil on canvas painting signed Chauncey F Ryder lower left corner. Ryder was a well known post impressionist American painter.   This painting measures 16X14 inches. The work shows  Farm workers returning from the field.  The painting is bright and detailed.  The painting had been recently lined and touched up mainly in the upper right corner.  Born in Danbury Ct. Ryder soon traveled to France to study painting before moving to New York City.Where he made his reputation as an important American painter...  In 1910 Ryder began to travel through New England, the landscape of which provided much of the subject matter for his work. He and his wife bought “a little house and three acres in Wilton, New Hampshire,” and for the rest of their lives, they split their time between New York City in the winter months and New Hampshire in the spring and summer. From their home in Wilton they traveled throughout New England, and continued to do so until old age.

This is an original portrait painting by American artist De Scott Evans (David Scott Evans)  The painting is signed and dated lower right corner.  This work measures 20X16 inches.  The framed size is 26X22 inches.  Fine condition Evans was a well known portrait painter and also He also is known to have painted several trompe l'oeil works signed "De Scott Evans" Four years later while sailing to Paris on the La Bourgogne, the ship sank and Evans and his family  were lost.  Evans studied under  Albert Beaugureau in Cincinnati, and later at the  Académie Julian, Paris with Wm. A. Bouguereau in Paris, 1877.

This is an original oil on canvas painting of Old Lyme Connecticut, the river bridge.   This painting is signed lower left corner.  The canvas measures 10X14 inches.  Housed in a period gilt frame.  Born in Minnesota, He moved to Brooklyn and summered in Old Lyme CT.  

This is an original oil on canvas painting by American artist De Scott Evans (David Scott Evans)  This portrait was created on a trip to Jamaica which he visited in 1894.  THe painting is clearly signed De Scott Evans, dated Jan 1894, and identified as being in Spanish Town, Jamaica, West Indies.  The painting measures 20X16 inches.  In good shape one tiny puncture, about 1/4 inch in the lower part of her dress. Evan's Jamaican paintings are very rare.  Evans was a well known portrait painter and also  known to have painted several trompe l'oeil works  He usually signed "De Scott Evans" on his works. Four years later while sailing to Paris on the La Bourgogne, the ship sank and Evans and his family  were lost.  Evans studied under  Albert Beaugureau in Cincinnati, and later at the  Académie Julian, Paris with Wm. This is an original oil on board painting by British artist Sir Hubert Von Herkomer (1849-1914)  This interior view of a woman at the table is signed lower left corner.  The painting measures 13 X 9 1/4 inches.  Housed in a period gilt toned frame with brass plaque. Herkomer was a  Bavarian-born British painter, pioneering film-director, and composer. Though a very successful portrait artist, especially of men, he is mainly remembered for his earlier works that took a realistic approach to the conditions of life of the  London poor.  This is a fine example of his early work, circa 1890.

This is an interesting portrait study, signed Edward Potthast lower left.  This appears to be one of his Beach character studies that he was well known for.  The painting done on an artist board measures 16X14 inches.  Thick brushstrokes, very impressionistic style,  a few minor spots of retouch, and small spots of chipping the result of being pressed against another painting for many years.  This could stand a light cleaning but very presentable as it now appears.

Oil on Academy Board, 12 x 9 inches, signed and inscribed "M. v. Schmaedel/München" lower right, period frame. The sitter is identified in a copy of a letter dated August 3, 1905, from Seth Mendell to William C. Davenport, President of The Machinists' Bank, Taunton, Massachusetts, in an envelope affixed to the back of the painting. Provenance: Estate of N. David Scotti, Providence, Rhode Island.

This is an original painting in watercolor by American artist and illustrator Gordon Hope Grant.  This painting, titled on the back "Rockport" is a fine view of the Fishing Shacks that Rockport is best known for.  This painting is signed Gordon Grant, lower right corner and has an image size of 15X22 inches, nicely framed which measures 24X29 inches.  The painting is still bright and colorful.  Fine shape.

This is an original oil on mahogany Panel by French artist Georges Lucien Boichard.  This painting is signed and dated 1883 upper right.  The painting measures 13 1/4X9 1/4 inches.  It is housed in a period gilt frame with added inner liner.  Boichard was a well known French Portrait artist.  He lived in Paris and his work was accepted to the Paris Salon in 1880.  The overall frame measures 23X19 inches.

This is an original oil on Canvas painting of a Grand Child''s Birthday present.  The painting is signed lower right corner but not easy to make out.  It looks like H. J. ..........?  The canvas measures 17X14 inches and came in a fine period gilt frame.  There is one repaired tear in the lower center of the canvas and some cracking to the paint.  Over all a very fine painting highly detailed.  Guaranteed to be   a mid to late 19th century work.  Most likely British or American origins...

This is an early 20th century landscape painting, oil on canvas titled: "The Oak", it was created circa 1920-30's.  It is signed lower left corner with the initials A. F. and also initialed and titled on the back of the canvas.  The painting itself measures 18X24 inches.  A fine impressionistic view of a woodland scene with a figure in the background.  Very good condition, the artist is a mystery.  This might possibly be the work of Alexis J. Fournier...
