20th Century American Prints

This is an original lithograph by American artist Kyra Markham.  The title is: In the Wings, created and printed in 1936, a back stage view of the performers on stage.  The image measures 13 1/2X10 inches, pencil signed,dated and titled in the lower border.  A rare image by this well known New York artist.

This is an original pencil signed lithograph by American artist Reginald Marsh.  The title is: Girl Walking, created and printed in 1945, sold through Associated American Artists in New York.  The image measures 10 1/2X7 3/4 inches.  Printed on a wove type sheet.  This image appears in the Sasowsky catalog as image number 28.

This is a fine original lithograph by American artist Don Freeman.  The title is: First Night Ovation,  created and printed in 1933 in an edition of 25.  Both pencil signed and titled in the lower border, this image measures 11 5/8X13 7/8 inches.  "In this first night audience, Heywood Broun turns to greet a friend seated behind him, Otto Kahn in top hat is seen at the far right, and above him, critic Percy Hammond rushes to meet a deadline"  This image appears in the Freeman catalog as image number 69.

This is a finely detailed mezzotint by American artist  Reynold Weidenaar.,  This image is titled: Demolition in the Plaza Del Toro, it was created and printed in 1950 and sold by Associated American Artists in New York.  The pencil signed impression measures 12 7/8X9 inches.  Also pencil titled in the lower left border.  A very rich impression, printed on a wove type sheet.

This is an original pencil signed mezzotint by American artist Allesandro Mastro-Valerio.  This study of two bathers at the ocean has an image size of 7X6 3/4 inches.  Numbered as 20/35.  A scarce image by this well known artist and master of the modern mezzotint.  Printed on a heavy weight wove type sheet.  He was a member of the Chicago Society of Etchers,  He is best known for his mezzotint* prints, particularly his female nudes.  His work helped to revive mezzotint as an artistic medium in the United States.

This is an original pencil signed etching by American artist Peggy Bacon, the title is: Promenade Deck, created and printed in 1920 in an edition of 500, published by The New Republic as a presentation print of their portfolio of 6 etchings.  The image measures 5 7/8X8 1/4 inches.  Flint 47.

This is an original pencil signed lithograph by American artist Joseph Pennell. He traveled down to Panama in 1912 to record the building of the Canal.  He created a series of images from that trip.  This image is titled Cranes at Miraflores Lock, Panama,  Printed in an edition of only 100.  This image measures 22 1/4X16 3/4 inches on a Fabiano watermarked, laid type paper.  Sheet size is 25 1/2X 20 1/2 inches.

Etching with aquatint, image size 7 7/8 x 10 7/8 inches, 1918-1919, state VII/VIII, cat: Czestochowski-69, alternate title "Far Prospect," pencil signed, framed. Davies was a truly remarkable artist of the late 19th and early 20th centuries known for his dreamlike etchings and lithographs. In his catalog raisonne of Davies work, Czestochowski writes "In a time of social, political, scientific and artistic upheaval, Davies hewed to an unwavering inner vision, one of classically graceful figures in an eternal dance with nature." This rare, early state etching is a perfect example of the combination of classicism and modernism of Davies' work.

This is an original pencil signed and titled lithograph by American artist Henry Ziegler.  This image is titled: The Last Fight in Old Madison Square Garden, it was created and printed in 1925.  This large image measures 14 1/2X19 3/4 inches.  Printed on a medium weight wove type paper.  One of Ziegler's most impressive lithographs.

This is a very fine original hand colored drypoint etching by American artist Dorsey Potter Tyson.  The title is: Dragon Boat Festival, this etching was created and printed in 1929 in an edition of 100, this one is numbered as 42/100.  This pencil signed etching measures an image of 11 7/8X9 7/8 inches.  It is nicely framed in an orientalist frame with french matting.

Etching by Jacques Reich after the painting by Giovanni Boldini, image size 20 5/8 x 11 1/2 inches, 1916, pencil signed. Whistler's signature is etched below the image, Boldini's in the lower left corner of the image.

This is an original pencil signed etching by American artist Otto Kuhler.  The image is titled: Steamboat  Wharf, created and printed in 1925.  The image measures 8X10 3/4 inches.  "Although best known for his industrial designs, Otto Kuhler (1894-1977) is well regarded as a fine artist and draftsman. Born in Germany, Kuhler was the sole heir to his family's successful steel business, Kuhler Forges. After WWI however, the business and his family's fortune were in ruins. After living briefly in Dusseldorf, and partly due to the advice of friend Joseph Pennell, he took up etching and emigrated to the States in 1923. Otto Kuhler's etchings of begrimed industry sprang from the same optimistic response to technology that led to his colorful streamlined designs for the Milwaukee, Lehigh and other railroads in the 1930's." This is a fine impression of early New York City, created in 1929 by American artist William NcNaulty, the title is The Woolworth Building.  Hand signed in pencil and inscribed as a gift to "Louise and Virgene... De Rochemont 12/33. W.M.N." This etching measures 13 1/4X8 7/8 inches.  A very rich impression done in an ediition of 75.  One of his finest compostions.

This is a fine original etching by American regionalist artist Jackson Lee Nesbitt.  The title is: Evening in March, pencil signed and titled, created and printed in 1942.  The image measures 11 7/8X8 7/8 inches.  Very fine condition, a rich impression printed on a medium weight wove type sheet.
