This is a rare early etching by American artist Joseph Pennell.  The title is Brasserie, Au Lion Rouge, created and printed in 1893 in an edition of only 40 impressions.  The image measures 6 1/4X8 1/8 inches.  Hand signed in pencil and also signed by the printer Goulding.  This early image shows the influence that Whistler had on Pennell, in both the style and technique.  Nice use of plate tone within the image.  This image appears in the Wuerth catalog as image number 188.  A fine view of a Paris Brasserie.  This impression was last sold by Frederick Keppel and Co in New York. This is a hand colored etching by French artist Auguste Louis Lepere.  The title in the plate is Sur La Seine,88.  Hand signed lower right in pencil.  The image measures 9 1/2X12 1/2 inches.  Printed on an "M.B.M." watermarked laid paper.  The upper border is 1/4 inches wide, just enough for proper presentation  A very rich inking and fine use of coloration after the etching was printed.  "It’s 1888 and Paris readies itself for the Exposition Universelle, a spectacular world’s fair staged the following year for the centennial of the French Revolution, which overthrew the monarchy in 1789. The centerpiece would be the Eiffel Tower, under construction on the far side of the River Seine" (Minneapolis Institute of Art)

This is a fine original pencil signed etching by American artist Charles Woodbury .  This etching is titled The Pilot, created 1916.  The image measures 8 3/4X11 inches. Woodbury was born in Lynn Ma where he became known for his coastal paintings and etchings.   He went to Holland in 1890 to study art,   Upon his return to New England he settled in Boston for  his winter studio and spent his summers in the small fishing village of Ogunquit, Maine; there he founded one of the most successful of the summer art colony schools of art.

This c. 1886 etching from the French artist, Paul Albert Besnard, measures 12 3/8 x 9 3/4 inches, pencil signed, editioned (three of 100), plate 10 of 12 from a series titled "La Femme", delteil 56(2nd state). Besnard studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris and for the beginning of his artistic career concentrated on a very academic style of painting and composition, before adopting a more impressionistic approach of portraying light and color; later he went to England to study portraiture with Thomas Gainesborough and Joshua Reynolds.
