Etching, image size 5 1/4 x 8 1/8 inches, 1882, plate signed l.l. "S Parrish" and "68" l.r., pencil signed l.r. "Stephen Parrish". This etching was made by Parrish after his painting, "A Fishing Hamlet, Bay of Fundy--Evening, which was shown at the National Academy of Design in March 1882.

This is one of the most impressive etchings by American artist Stephen Parrish. It is titled: "A GLOUCESTER WHARF", it was created and printed in 1886. It was one of three plates that Parrish did exclusively in dry point. The image is quite large, measuring 17 7/8X11 7/8 inches, printed on a medium weight wove type hard paper, A beautiful impression with extensive use of plate tone in the sky and sea. Printed with brown ink, fine condition. The Oil,Sounds & Livers advertised on the building are important fisheries products. Sounds are fish air bladders ground up for use in making isinglass. This is a fine hand signed etching by American Artist Stephen Parrish. The title of this work is "Evening, Gloucester, 1883". The image measures 8 5/8X14 inches. This image appears in the Schneider catalog as image number 77. "To the right of the mast is the tower of the 1869 City Hall, still standing, Next to the right is the sharply pointed spire of the Baptist church, now gone. At the far right are the buildings of the Rocky Neck Marine Railways." Fine use of plate tone in the sky and sea.

According to Schneider, this atmospheric image of the Massachusetts shore was one of Parrish's most popular etchings. This print features a very richly inked impression with beautiful plate tone, printed on a medium weight wove type paper with ample margins.

This is an original pencil signed etching by American artist Stephen Parrish. This etching titled: "Gloucester Harbor", also known as "Rainy Day Gloucester", was created and printed in 1882. It is a rare work, one of the few that Parrish did after another artists composition. This was after the painting by W.M. Hunt. Hunt's initials are etched into the plate lower left. The image measures 13 1/8X19 3/4 inches. Printed on a simulated parchment wove type paper, laid onto a thicker sheet. This is an early signed proof but done without the sailboat remarque . This etching appears in the Schneider catalog as image number 74. From the artists catalog, "June 1882, From the head of the harbor,looking south, In the right foreground, an old black hulk" beyond wharves and shipping and part of the town....In mid distance Five Pound Island."
