This 1926 etching by master printmaker Arthur Briscoe measures 7 x 11 7/8 inches and is signed in ink and editioned as 38/75. Lable on backing with provenance from C.W. Kraushaar Galleries, NY. Members of the crew aboard the trawler "Guess Again" concentrate on hauling the days catch aboard. The forground figure is "Old Sam" a figure Briscoe used in many of his images. This richly inked image was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1927. Briscoe studied at the Slade Art School and the Academy Julian in Paris and then spent the rest of his time sailing, becoming one of the most prominent British marine artists of the 20th century. He owned his own three ton cutter which he used to sail around the Essex coast. Also crewing on a Polish ship, he sketched every aspect of life on the boat. Most of Briscoe's etchings show sailing ships and the men who sailed them. His beautifully etched images present an invaluable historical record of the workings of the last great commercial vessels.
A verdant New England landscape by Massachusetts artist Edward Burrill, oil on canvas, 9 x 12 inches, 1885, signed and dated in the lower left corner, framed. Edward Burrill was a Northshore artist known for his landscapes and coastal scenes. He worked out of a Boston studio for a time but was primarily based in Lynn, MA, and knew many of the important artists of the day, including John J. Enneking, Winslow Homer and Joseph Cole. He exhibited his work regularly at the Boston Art Club for many years, also showing his work at the Silas Barton Gallery and the Lynn Art Club.

From his French Church Series #47, this 1947 award winning etching by John Taylor Arms measures 13 3/8 x 6 7/8 inches, pencil signed and dated, edition of 198, state II, cat: Fletcher-47. This image won five major awards between 1947 and 1951 including 1st Prize at the Annual Exhibition of the Chicago Society of Etchers in 1949. John Taylor Arms was one of the foremost American printmakers of the 20th century, known for his exquisite compositions and exacting details which gave his etchings a very realistic, almost photographic appearance.

Spruance studied in Paris after winning the coveted Cresson Scholarship in 1928 while attending college at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. He studied with Edmond and Jaques Desjobert in Paris before returning to the US and continuing his nearly forty year career as a printmaker.

This is a scarce original pencil signed etching by American artist Stephen Parrish. The title of this work is: "The Harbor of Cannes, 1886" . This image was created when in November of 1885 Parrish arrived in Cannes. "The harbor was so beautiful that it inspired this etching." (R.S.) The image measures 11 7/8X18 5/8, printed on a medium weight wove paper called "Imperial Japan". Excellent original condition, a rich warm tone to the sheet. This etching was last sold by Hermann Wunderlich, the label appeared on the back of the frame, this etching is currently matted, not framed. An excellent rich impression.. This image appears in the Schneider catalog as image number 116.
This is an original drypoint etching by British artist Edmund Blampied. The title is: "The Butterfly", it was created and printed in 1928 and is editioned as 25/100. The image measures 9 5/8X7 7/8 inches, pencil signed lower right and printed on a cream laid type paper with the F.J. Head watermark. Very fine condition, this is one of Blampied's most impressive images. It appears in the Appleby catalog as image number 133.

This is a striking original etching by British artist Gerald Brockhurst. The image size is 4 7/8 x 5 3/4 inches, published in 1928 in an edition of 111, pencil signed, framed, with a label from the Vincent Price Collection. Although Brockhurst is known for his remarkable portraits, this is one of his finest, most sought after etchings. Born in England and found to be artistically talented at an early age, Gerald Brockhurst was enrolled in the Royal Academy Schools. A scholarship enabled him to study in France and Italy where the work of the great masters, especially Botticelli and da Vinci, had a lasting influenced on him. He became well known for his classically styled portraits etched with a remarkable sense of detail and texture. Framed
This is an original hand colored lithograph by American artist Don Freeman. The title is: "To see the mayor". This image was created and printed in 1937 in an edition of 25, far fewer were hand colored by the artist. This image is pencil signed, the image measures 12 1/8X9 inches. According to the catalog: "On his weekly radio program, Mayor La Guardia encouraged new Yorkers to bring their complaints to him personally. Freeman drew a group of constituents making appointments with the mayor's secretary" This lithograph is framed.
