This is an original etching and aquatint by French artist Georges Rouault, take from his Miserere Series.   Plate 56: En ces temps noirs de jactance et d'incroyance, Notre Dame de la Fin des Terres Vigilante / In these dark times of vainglory and unbelief, Our Lady of the Ends of the Earth keeps watch (C&R. 109c). Original aquatint, drypoint, burnisher, roulette, scraper, 1927. 450 impressions for the Miserere, Rouault's masterpiece and one of the most important series of the twentieth century. Signed in the plate and dated 1927 at lower center left (there are no pencil-signed proofs). A beautiful impression of this climactic image. Image size: 23X17 inches.

This is a fine highly detailed etching by British artist Stanley Badmin, created and printed in 1929 this image is titled: The Old Ash.  The image measures 5 1/2X4 inches, pencil signed and numbered: 4/40.  Printed on a Buff toned wove type sheet.  "Badmin's interest in  the stark shapes of leafless trees silhouetted against the skyline  is a subject that he frequently pursued.This image shows an old Ash tree near Balcombe, in Sussex.  This image appears in the Beetles catalog as number 12.

This is a fine color aquatint etching by French artist Manuel Robbe.  This image is titled: Les Liseuses, created and printed in  1907 in an edition of 100.  Merrill Chase catalog number 54.  The image measures 19X14 1/2 inches, printed on an Arches watermarked laid type sheet.  A beautiful impressionist interior view of two women reading.  Very fine condition.

This is a rare original etching and drypoint by Scottish artist David Cameron.  The title is: Wingless Chimera, Amiens Cathedral,  it was created and printed in 1911.  Hand signed in pencil, this etching measures an image area of 7 5/8X9 3/8 inches.  Printed on a medium weight laid type sheet.  This image was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1911.  This image appears in the Rinder catalog as image number 416.

This is a very fine drypoint etching by American Sporting artist Frank Benson.  This image is titled: Turnstones, created and printed in 1928 in an edition of 150.  The image measures 7 7/8X11 7/8 inches.  Last sold by Vose Galleries in Boston, the label is on the back of the frame.  A very rich burr in the drypoint, a beautiful image, Benson at his best.  This image appears in the Ordeman catalog as number 283,

This is an original hand signed etching by American artist Isac Friedlander. The title of this work is "Aftermath" alt. "Outcasts", this etching was created and printed in 1944.
This etching was created in an edition of 30 signed proofs, this one is inscribed as "Trial Proof #2", the image measures 14X11 inches, printed on a medium weight wove type paper. The artist's view of the aftermath of war in Europe.
Isac Friedlander (1890-1968) was born in Mitau, Latvia. He was arrested in 1906 and imprisoned by Russian authorities for anti- Czarist Political activities from 1906 to 1912. He studied art at the Academy of Rome, Italy from 1913 until 1917. He was a friend of Russian writer Maxim Gorky. Friedlander began his printing career in 1915. In 1917 he repatriated to Russia during the Kerensky regime, but in 1929 Friedlander immigrated to the US with the encouragement of his cousin Joseph Hirshhorn.

Etching, image size 6 x 9 1/8 inches, cat: Melot- C.7, later printing without Cadart lettering, possibly after it was removed. This is a very nice impression with wide borders, printed on a medium weight cream colored laid type paper. This atmospheric image from Corot's series of Italian landscapes is a great example of his ability to capture the life and movement of the scene with loose spontaneous lines and rich tones.
