Prints

This is a hand colored etching by French artist Auguste Louis Lepere.  The title in the plate is Sur La Seine,88.  Hand signed lower right in pencil.  The image measures 9 1/2X12 1/2 inches.  Printed on an "M.B.M." watermarked laid paper.  The upper border is 1/4 inches wide, just enough for proper presentation  A very rich inking and fine use of coloration after the etching was printed.  "It’s 1888 and Paris readies itself for the Exposition Universelle, a spectacular world’s fair staged the following year for the centennial of the French Revolution, which overthrew the monarchy in 1789. The centerpiece would be the Eiffel Tower, under construction on the far side of the River Seine" (Minneapolis Institute of Art)

This is an original pencil signed etching by American artist Lawrence Kupferman.  The title of this work is:
"Victorian Carriage House". This etching was created and printed in 1939 and is editioned as 13/100.  The etching is signed and titled in the lower border, the image measures 9 3/4X11 5/8 inches.  

This is a rare etching by American artist of the Southwest, George Elbert Burr.  The title is: Whirlwinds, Mojave Desert, California no. 2.  It was created and printed circa 1930.  This pencil signed and titled etching measures 8X10 inches.  This appears in the Burr catalog as image number 281.

This is an original pencil signed etching by American artist Charles Adams Platt.  The title of this work is "Pier at Larmor".  It was created and printed in 1885.  The image measrues 14 1/8X8 1/2 inches.  One of a series of Dutch etchings that he created during this period of travel in Europe.  This is included in the Platt catalog as image number P-55.  Framed.

This is an original etching by Belgium artist Jules DeBruycker.  It is titled Ruelle Gand, it was created and printed in 1906.  Hand signed and titled in pencil, Le Ruelle.  The image measures 13 1/2X5 1/2 inches.  Printed on a medium weight laid type paper.  With a Van Gelder watermark.

This is a fine large etching by French artist Alphonse Legros.  The title is; Le Retour du Bois (Return from the Woods), Created circa 1880's.  This was part of his series known as Death and the Wood cutter.  This pencil signed impression measures 9 1/4X14 inches.  Legros was a well known founder of the etching revival in France.  This is one of his largest compositions.  This image is in the collections of many museums through out the world.  The catalog listing is Bliss 565.  Printed on a medium weight laid type paper with partial watermark.

This is an original drypoint etching by French artist Alphonse Legros (1837-1911)  The title of this work is: La Ferme De Labbaye (farm at the monastery)  Created and printed circa 1880, this image measures 8 1/2X11 1/8 inches.  Hand signed and titled in pencil.  Printed on a medium weight wove type paper with a partial watermark.

This is an original wood block print by Jamaican artist  Albert Huie.  This image is titled: In The Woods, created and printed circa 1945.  This woodblock is hand signed and titled in pencil in the lower border.  The image measures 9 1/2X7 1/2 inches.  

Albert Huie (1920-2010) was a seminal figure in the formation and development of a national Jamaican artistic identity, overcoming the hurdles of a colonial-based system of race and class distinctions to become the first native-born Jamaican artist to attain international renown and respect. Working primarily in the areas of landscape, portraiture, and figurative art, he established a multiple award-winning career that spanned seven decades and earned him the title of “the Father of Jamaican Painting.” 

This is a fine original hand colored etching by British artist Elyse Lord.  The title is: Fantasy in Blue, created and printed circa 1925.  This image is pencil signed and numbered as 39/75.  The image measures 13 3/4X10 1/4 inches.  Printed on a thin Japan type sheet.

This is an original etching and drypoint by American artist Louis Rosenberg.  The title is: The Grand Canal, Venice, it is printed on a medium weight laid type paper.  This etching was created and printed in 1927.  The image measures 8 7/8X13 7/8 inches.  Hand signed in pencil lower right border, very fine condition, nice use of plate tone in the sky and water.  A very rare image, Rosenberg at his best!!!...

This is a fine pencil signed lithograph by French impressionist Edmond Francois Aman-Jean.  This image measures 13 3/8X14 5/8 inches.  Very fine condition, printed on a wove type paper.  The subject is Mile Moreno  who played in  the Comedie Francaise show this image was created and printed in  1898

This is a fine aquatint etching by British artist Dame Laura Knight (1877-1970)  The subject is Pavlova in her role as a Grecian Dancer.  It was created and printed in 1923 in an edition of 55.   This etching is pencil signed and inscribed "print 2"..The image mesures 9 7/8X 6 7/8 inches.  Printed on a medium weight wove type sheet. 

This is a fine atmospheric etching by British artist Frank Short, the title is: The Old Chelsea Bridge and Church, by the RIver Thames, it was created and printed in  1884.  Hand signed in pencil the image measures 6 5/8X14 1/8 inches.  Printed in brown ink on a heavy weight wove type sheet.
