This 1930 etching of "Anais", the artist's first wife, measures 8 3/4 x 6 3/4 inches and is pencil signed on the l.r., framed, Fletcher cat: 67, in an edition of 111. Born in England and found to be artistically talented at an early age, he was enrolled in the Royal Academy Schools. A scholarship enabled him to study in France and Italy where the great masters, Botticelli and da Vinci, had a lasting influenced on him. A self-taught etcher who became one of the best portrait etchers in art history being elected into the Royal Society of Painter - Etchers and Engravers in 1921.

This is an original pencil signed etching and aquatint by British artist Gerald Brockhurst.  The title of this work is"Une Dacquoise".  This etching was printed in an edition of 76.  The etching was created in 1922.  The model was the artists wife Anais Brockhurst.  The title refers to a woman from Dax in the Landes district of France.  The image measures 6 1/4X4 1/2 inches.  Very nice condition, a rich impression.

One of the finest portrait etchings ever  created by British artist Gerald Brockhurst.  "Henry Rushbury", created and printed in 1930.  Rushbury, like Brockhurst studied at the Birmingham School of Art and the two later shared an apartment in London.  Rushbury was an accomplished etcher as well...  This etching is very richly printed, the subtle tonal range is incredible in person, our scan doesn't .do this image justice.  Absolutely one of the finest portraits .  This etching measures 10X7 3/8 inches, pencil signed and titled by the artist in the lower border, printed in an edition of 111.  Very fine condition.

This is  a rare early proof of the later published etching by Gerald Brockhurst.  It is titled: "The Black Cloak", it was created and printed in 1939.  The image measures 9 15/16X7 15/16 inches.  This etching is identified as the 2nd proof of the first state.  I was acquired from the  estate of the artists wife  , Kathleen Brockhurst, This etching is unsigned, it is a portrait of Mrs Paul Mellon at the time of her graduation..

"Dorette", it was created and printed in 1932 in an edition of 111.  The image measures 9 1/8X7 1/4 inches.  This is the first of 3 Portraits that Brockhurst created of Kathleen Woodward.  She was the girl that the artist left his wife for and was known as Dorette.   An impressive impression, one of Brockhurst's most expressive  portraits.  Nicely framed.  This impression includes a handwritten letter to the former owner by Dorette Brockhurst when she sold this etching many years ago.
