19th Century European Prints

This is a fine original etching by French Barbizon artist Adolphe Appian.  The title is: Au Valromey.  This etching was created and printed in 1868, this is a very rare impression done on a thin laid type paper before the addition of the type setting below the image as it was published later by Cadart . published in Paris by Cadart & Luce (fl.1867–1870/1) as plate 6 to the art periodical in its first year, “L'Illustration nouvelle par une société de peintres-graveurs à l'eau-forte”, vol. 1, 1868. The image measures 4 1/8X7 5/8 inches.  Signed in the plate upper right corner of the image.

A fine etching in sepia ink by Sir Francis Seymour Haden, one of the most important British etchers of the 19th century. This image measures 6 x 8 7/8 inches, 1892, state III/III, cat: Schneiderman-207, pencil signed. A richly inked impression with very nice plate tone.

A very fine original etching, this image measures 6 x 8 3/4 inches, 1877, cat: Schneiderman-153, pencil signed. Sir Francis Seymour Haden was one of the most important British etchers of the 19th century, along with his brother in law James Whistler. In addition to being a highly regarded artist he was a successful surgeon, accomplished author and dedicated angler. He was a founder and the first president of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers, and was knighted in 1894.

This is an original drypoint etching by French artist Alphonse Legros (1837-1911).  Las Vieilles Carrieres de Mont Rouge was created and printed circa 1880's in an edition of 22.  The image measures 3 5/8X7 1/8 inches.  This etching is hand signed lower right in pencil.  Fine condition, Ref. This is an original pencil signed etching of a woman by French artist Charles L. Courtry (1846-1897) Weve been unable to identify the subject, the etching is hand signed in pencil by the artist lower right. Printed on a medium weight wove type paper. The image measures 17 1/2X14 3/4 inches.

This 1866 etching by Felix Bracquemond, after a painting by Gustave Courbet, measures 8 1/2 x 12 1/4 inches, 1866, published by Cadart and Luquet, Paris, signed in the plate in reverse, l.r., numbered in plate (242), u.l., cat: Beraldi-281.

This etching by Daubigny measures 7 1/4 x 13 1/4 inches, "Daubigny pinx 8c sculp" on l.l., "PARC A MOUTONS, LE MATIN." on l.c. and "Imp. Delatre, Rue des Feuillantines; 4, Paris." on l.r., D. 95, between 2nd and 3rd state of 4, center crease.

This is an original etching by French artist Theodule A. Ribot.  The tile is: Le Dejeuner des Cuisiniers, it was created and printed circa 1865.  Translated it reads: (The Cooks' Lunch, Culinary Scene # 5)  "is the fifth scene from a set of original etchings portraying the life in the kitchen's of  a Parisian restaurant.  Published by Cadart, Paris.  The image measures 8 1/4X11 1/4 inches.  Plate signed.
