Recent Acquisitions

This is the famous self portrait by the Belgian printmaker, Jules de Bruycker.  The setting is within his studio with a view of Ghent behind.  The artist at work, this image was created and printed in 1925 in an edition of 125.  The image measures 15 1/4X11 1/4 inches, printed on a wove type sheet which measures 22 1/2X15 1/2 inches.  Hand signed, inscribed  and dated in pencil in the lower margin.

This is a fine original oil on canvas painting by French impressionist artist Adolphe J.T. Monticelli (1824-1886)  The subject is A fine family setting at the Beach.  The painting is signed Monticelli lower right, the painting measures 12 1/4X10 1/4 inches.  This work is in fine condition, cleaned and lined in the past, it is very presentable, it is currently unframed.  "Monticelli was born in Marseille in humble circumstances. He attended the École Municipale de Dessin in Marseille from 1842 to 1846, and continued his artistic training in Paris, where he studied under Paul Delaroche at the École des Beaux-Arts. In Paris In 1855 he met Narcisse Diaz, a member of the Barbizon school, and the two often painted together in the Fontainebleau Forest. Monticelli frequently adopted Diaz's practice of introducing nudes or elegantly costumed figures into his landscapes."

This is an early original lithograph by American artist Stow Wengenroth.  The title is: Sea's Strange Calm, Eastport, Maine.  It was created and printed in 1931 in an edition of 54 impressions.  This proof is hand signed in pencil lower right border.  The image measures 7 1/4X12 7/8 inches.  It appears in the Stuckey catalog as image number 10.  The scene is Campobello Island in the distance, seen from Eastport, Maine, Across Passaquoddy Bay.  Printed on a medium weight wove type paper with "France" watermark.

This is an original woodblock print by American artist Felix Ruismann.  This impression is signed and titled in pencil in the lower border.  The image is the Old Homestead, created and printed circa 1930's.  The image measures 5 1/4X5 1/2 inches.  Printed on a thin Japan type paper.  There is old tape residue on the etchings of the sheet but not into the image area.

This is an original pencil signed and titled etching by American artist Edwin Kaufman.  The title is: Central Park, N.Y..  Printed circa 1940 the image measures 4 1/2X5 3/4 inches.  Printed on a medium weight laid type paper.

This is an original etching by Belgian artist Richard Baseleer.  Written on the back of the sheet is: Rich Basileer, La Rade d'Hmvers, 1924..This etching measures 9 1/2X13 1/2 inches.  This is an unsigned proof.  Printed on a watermarked wove type paper.

This is an original block print by Wisconsin artist Edward Boerner.  The title is written in pencil, The Farm, it was created and printed in 1940.  The image measures 5X4 inches.  Pencil signed lower right.  This also came with a card by the artist which describes this as: "Our family homestead at Cedarsburg, 1847.

This is a period printing of a Battle Scene from the Thirty Years War, engraved  and printed in 1762 By William Baillie.  Initialed and dated in the lower left corner of the border. 1/8 inch margins on three sides, some tears at the right edge of the sheet.  The image measures 8 1/8X 13 7/8 inches.  Printed on an early laid type sheet.

This is a pencil signed etching by American artist Stephen Parrish.  The title is: On the Rance, Brittany.  It was created and printed in 1887.  The image measures 4 3/4X9 1/4 inches, printed with a warm toned ink.  A small imperfection at the upper edge of the plate.  It appears to have been a flaw in the copper plate.  This River runs through Dinan on its way north to St. Malo in Brittany.  This etching is framed with archival materials.

This is an original Screen print, pencil signed by American abstract artist Edward Landon.  This image is titled: Mountain Village, it was created and printed in 1973 in an edition of 30.  The image measures 8 1/2X16 inches.  Printed on a Creme toned woven type paper.  This original screenprint came to us in what appears to be the original American modernist frame.

This is a fine original drypoint etching by American artist Sam Thal.  The title is New Hampshire Barn, an early start on the farm.  This etching is pencil signed lower right and has an image size of 9X11 7/8 inches.  

This is an early copper engraving by Cornelius Visscher after the painting by Pieter Claesz Soutman.  This period impression was printed on an early laid type paper.  The image shows the Bishop being killed by two knives in his chest.  The image measures 16 3/4X11 5/8 inches.

This is a fine period printing of the engraving of Saint Jerome (Jeroen) of Noordwijk by Dutch engraver Cornelius Visscherm after the design by Pieter Claesz  Soutman.  The image is in very fine condition printed on an early laid type paper.  The image measures 16 3/4X11 1/2 inches. 

This is a rare pencil signed bookplate design by Evert Van muyden.  It has numerous views of men working in a printing shop.  Pencil signed lower right.  The image measures 8 1/2X6 1/2 inches.  Collectors seals and annotations on the back.  This image was created and printed circa 1890's.

This is an original pencil signed etching by American artist George Elbert Burr.  The title is Storm on the Little Colorado River, Arizona.  Created and printed circa 1925, this etching has an image size of 4 1/2X6 inches.  This image appears in the Burr catalog as image number 260.00
