Colored softground and aquatint from 1925. Numbered 65 in an edition of 300. Catalog: Novak 432. Pencil signed in the lower right, numbered in the lower left. Plate measures 11 5/8 x 15 1/4 inches on 15 1/8 x 19 inch watermarked wove type paper. An atmospheric etching that captures the bleak weather with splashes of color. F. Simon was born in Bohemia, now the Czech Republic. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and traveled extensively throughout Europe, as well as Asia and the U.S. He lived in Paris from 1905-1913, then returned to Prague to teach at the Academy of Fine Arts. Simon was an exceptional painter and printmaker, and is best known for his atmospheric color etchings and aquatints, such as this wintry Paris scene.

This is a fine original etching by British marine artist Arthur Briscoe.  The title is: The Main Brace, created and printed in 1929.    The image measures 13 11/16X9 15/16 inches, printed on an antique wove type sheet.  It is hand signed with pen and ink and also numbered 39/75. " This view of men hauling in on the brace while at the same time keeping their balance in the heeling ship as a spray sweeps over the weather rail."

This is a fine original etching by French artist and print maker Louis Auguste Lepere.  The subject is Amiens Cathedral, created and printed in 1907.  The pencil signed impression measures 13 11/16X9 5/8 inches.  Printed on a medium weight laid type sheet.  Very fine condition.  This image appears in the Saunier catalog as image number 344.  Printed in an edition of 150.

Etching with aquatint, image size 7 7/8 x 10 7/8 inches, 1918-1919, state VII/VIII, cat: Czestochowski-69, alternate title "Far Prospect," pencil signed, framed. Davies was a truly remarkable artist of the late 19th and early 20th centuries known for his dreamlike etchings and lithographs. In his catalog raisonne of Davies work, Czestochowski writes "In a time of social, political, scientific and artistic upheaval, Davies hewed to an unwavering inner vision, one of classically graceful figures in an eternal dance with nature." This rare, early state etching is a perfect example of the combination of classicism and modernism of Davies' work.

This is a fine line engraving by British artist Stanley Anderson.  The title is The Old Tinker.  This pencil signed impression measures 7 X5 1/2  inches, created and printed in 1933.  This image appears in the Anderson Catalog as image number 208.  The tinker is depicted soldering a patch to a leaking kettle while his wife is about to renew the cane seat of an old chair.  Anderson often returned to the subject of the wanderer, of itinerants such as wayfarers pedlars and gypsies making their way through town.  This engraving is in a modern frame with archival materials.

This is a fine hand signed etching by American Artist Stephen Parrish. The title of this work is "Evening, Gloucester, 1883". The image measures 8 5/8X14 inches. This image appears in the Schneider catalog as image number 77. "To the right of the mast is the tower of the 1869 City Hall, still standing, Next to the right is the sharply pointed spire of the Baptist church, now gone. At the far right are the buildings of the Rocky Neck Marine Railways." Fine use of plate tone in the sky and sea.

A richly inked drypoint from 1919. Catalog reference: Gaunt 245. Edition of 54. Pencil signed in the lower right. Plate measures 19 x 20 3/4 inches on 24 1/2 x 29 1/2 inch wove type paper. Sir Frank Brangwyn was one of the most important British artists of the early 20th century. A member of the Royal Academy, the Royal Watercolor Society, and the Royal Society of British Artists, he was knighted in 1924.
