This is an original Arthur Briscoe etching, titiled: "Heavy Canvas", this etching was created and printed in 1931 in an edition of 75. The image is hand signed in pen and ink and editioned in the lower border. The image measures 13 1/2X8 3/8 inches. The subject shows four men making fast the crossjack of a four masted barque. This etching is archivally framed.

This is a well inked etching with plate toning and a rich drypoint burr. C. 1920. Plate measures 10 x 8 inches on 4 1/4 x 10 1/4 inch wove paper. Pencil signed in the lower left. Catalog: Ordeman 183. Edition of 150. Frank Benson was a very successful painter and a member of "The Ten" along with Childe Hassam and J. Alden Weir, before he began the sporting paintings and etchings for which he is most widely known. He was a founding member of the Boston Guild of Artists and a long time teacher at the Museum School in Boston. In 1912, at the age of 50, Benson began his etchings and drypoints, mainly of wild fowl which he depicted with expressive lines and rich toning that exquisitely captured the life and energy of the wild birds. His etchings were in high demand from the very start, and have remained favorites for collectors ever since.

This is an original woodblock print by American artist Isac Friedlander. it is titled: "Vanquished" it was created and printed in 1938, it is editioned as 1/4 impressions.
The image measures 10X12 inches, printed on a light weight laid type paper. It is hand signed,titled and editioned in pencil in the lower margin. Isac Friedlander (1890-1968) was born in Latvia. In 1912 he went to Italy where he met and worked with Russian artist Maxim Gorky. During this period he also received his only art training, studying etching, drawing and relief printing at the Academy of Rome. In 1937, he emigrated to New York where he worked full time as an artist until his death. He is best known for his woodcuts and etchings, and many museums have works by the artist, including the Smithsonian, Bibliotheque Nationale, and the Brooklyn Museum.
This color etching and aquatint by Luigi Kasimir measures 18 x 23 1/2 inches, pencil signed, cat: Lorenz #62, c. 1923, edition of 300. Kasimir studied at the Vienna Academy of Art, although much of his etching technique was self taught and learned through working from nature. He specialized in atmospheric images of architecture, city scenes and landscapes; some bustling with people and automobiles, others quite timeless and serene. Kasimir developed his own technique, which was much more suited to the particular clarity of his compositions. This technique allowed Kasimir to create extraordinarily rich tones and values with clear, crisp lines; he could masterfully bring a scene to life using subtle hues of grays and earth tones accentuated by bright splashes of saturated color.
Original etching by the British artist, Arthur Brisco, measuring 6 1/2 x 10 7/8 inches, 1926, signed and numbered; 62/75, cat: Hurst-158. Britain's "General Strike" was the theme of Brisco's dramatic image of "The Orator". The strike, mainly by coal-miners upset with their goverments' reduction in wages and worsening conditions, also included dockers, printers, power station workers and transport workers, thus Brisco's interest in the subject.
This is a very fine etching by Stephen Parrish after a painting by Henry Ward Ranger. The image size is 18 x 23 3/4 inches, published by Klackner in 1887, cat: Schneider-124, with a remarque in the lower center margin, pencil signed by both Parrish and Ranger. In her description of this etching, Schneider writes that "there is a good match between the sensibilities of the painter, Henry Ward Ranger (1858-1916), and the printmaker, Parrish, so the result is a masterful etching."
