This is an early engraving by Pierre Adrien Le Beau, Portrait of Tourville, one of the principal chiefs of the navy of Louis XIV with a small representation of the Battle of La Hougue in 1692. Circa 1790 this engraving has an image size of 7 1/4X4 1/2 inches, tipped onto a backing board with french mat.

This etching by Anton Schutz measures 9 7/8 x 13 3/4 inches. It is pencil signed and numbered. Schutz was born in Germany and emigrated to the US in 1924 before Hitler came into power. A well-known artist in Germany, especially Munich, he started over again and enrolled in the Art Student's League in NY, working with Joseph Pennel. He became known for his portrayal of large cities along the eastern seaboard, capturing the enormity of the buildings along with the spirit of the American people.

This seascape of a ship's deck, under very adverse weather conditions, by the American artist, Gordon Grant measures 9 x 12 inches and is pencil signed. Gordon Grant was born in California and was sent alone to Great Britain around Cape Horn when he was thirteen years old for his education. He worked as a staff artist for New York World and Harper's Weekly, covering both the Boer War and the Mexican Revolution, but became most widely known for his marine paintings and lithographs. He was a member of many artist's associations, including the National Academy of Design; American Federation of Art; Salmagundi Club; National Arts Club; American Watercolor Society; New York Society of Painters; and the New York Watercolor Club.
