This is a drypoint etching from February 1931. Edition of 100. Catalog: BPL 104. Pencil signed in the lower right, pencil numbered 35 out of 100 in the lower left. Plate measures 14 1/4 x 9 1/2 inches on 16 1/2 x 11 1/2 inch Rives watermarked wove paper. A well inked, exquisitely detailed etching. Samuel Chamberlain studied architecture at MIT, but interrupted his studies to serve in France during WWI. After the war, Chamberlain worked as an architectural draftsman in Boston before leaving the US to travel throughout France and Europe. During his time overseas, Chamberlain began sketching the countryside and architecture, eventually studying at the Royal College of Art in London. He became well known for his carefully rendered etchings and drypoints of both European and American buildings and cityscapes.

This is a fine original etching by British artist Robert Austin.  The title: Medicanti (The Beggars)  is hand signed in pencil and dated 1924.  The image measures 4 1/2X3 3/4 inches.  Printed on a medium weight laid type paper with the P.G. Head watermark.

This is a fine period printing of the engraving of Saint Jerome (Jeroen) of Noordwijk by Dutch engraver Cornelius Visscherm after the design by Pieter Claesz  Soutman.  The image is in very fine condition printed on an early laid type paper.  The image measures 16 3/4X11 1/2 inches. 

This is an early copper engraving by Cornelius Visscher after the painting by Pieter Claesz Soutman.  This period impression was printed on an early laid type paper.  The image shows the Bishop being killed by two knives in his chest.  The image measures 16 3/4X11 5/8 inches.

This is a fine original line engraving by British artist Robert S. Austin.  The title is "Scythes Resting in a Tree",created and printed in 1928, the image measures 5X3 1/2 inches.  Pencil signed by the artist, numbered 11/75.  Robert Sargent Austin was a highly respected illustrator and engraver, sometimes regarded as the last great English engraver. He taught at the Royal College of Art and was eventually elected president of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers.

This is a very rare early trial proof etching by Joseph Pennell, one of the foremost American etchers of the early 20th century. The plate size is 11 x 8 5/8 inches; the image itself measures 10 x 8 1/4 inches. It was created in 1906 and is pencil signed by both Pennell and Goulding, the printer. It is notated 'trial proof' in the lower right corner, the later published state of this image is #411 in the Wuerth catalog. As is typical of Pennell's prints, the margins are small, but adequate for proper presentation. This etching comes with original label from Frederick Keppel & Co, New York.

Pencil signed in the lower right. Ca. 1936. Plate measures 9 3/4 x 14 1/2 inches on 11 x 17 inch laid type paper. This print shows good use of plate toning and negative space.

Etching by Nicolas Mignard after the frescoes of Annibale Carracci depicting scenes from Homer's Odyssey. Plate size 9 7/8 x 17 5/8, published by Pierre Mariette in 1637, with lettering in Latin below the image. Printed on a very early watermarked laid type paper.

This is an original pencil signed etching of New York City by American artist Karl Dehmann (1886-1974)  This image is of Broadway, N.Y.  created and printed circa 1928.  The image measures 10 7/8X6 3/4 inches.  Printed on a medium weight wove type paper with a crown watermark.

This is an original etching by British artist David Y. Cameron.  The title is: Ayr, Bremen, Vienna.  It was created and printed in 1889.  The image is pencil signed in pencil by the artist and the image measures 6 11/16X11 3/4 inches.
