This is a fine period impression of the well known color woodblock print by Japanese artist Hasui Kawase. The title is: Snow at Hie Shrine, it was created and printed in 1931. It has his stamped Sui Seal signature. It was published by Watanabe, with the C. Seal on the right side next to the image. Printed on a Japan laid type sheet. This woodblock is in very fine condition, rich color only the very lightest trace of light toning where the old window mat lay. The image measures 14 1/4X9 1/2 inches, on a sheet size of 15 1/4X10 1/2 inches. This was last sold by T.. Shiota in San Francisco. In Japanese the title reads, Hokuto No Yuki, Hiye Jinja. Dated 6th year of Showa Era, Ganjitsu, New Year 1931.
