This is a fine oil on wooden board by American artist Charles Paul Gruppe.  This scene of a springtime river is signed lower right Ch P. Gruppe.  The painting measures 12X16 inches.  Very fine condition, recently cleaned and varnished.  Housed in a fine Period carved frame.

This is an original hand colored drypoint etching by French artist Paul Cesar Helleu.  The title: Femme en profil avec un chapeau.  measures a plate mark of 21 1/4X13 1/4 inches.  Hand signed in pencil lower right, a superb, richly inked impression with bright colors.  Printed on a heavy wove type paper.  Helleu began his art career when he enrolled at the Ecole des Beaux Arts and worked as an apprentice for Theodore Deck, decorating ceramic plates with women's portraits. He became friends with many artists of La Belle Epoch, including John Singer Sargent, Whistler, Tissot, Monet and Rodin, and became well known for his elegant portraits of women of French society. He traveled between France and America, and in 1912 was commissioned to create the astrological ceiling decoration in New York's Grand Central Station.  This drypoint is nicely framed with archival materials.

This is a fine Belle Epoque portrait in drypoint by French artist Paul Cesar Helleu.  The subject is: Madeleine Chéruit.  This image measures 15 1/2X11 1/2 inches, hand signed in pencil by the artist in the lower right border.  This drypoint is housed in a Foster Brothers period gilt frame.. Madeleine Chéruit was one of the most fashionable French dressmakers of her time. Her house of courture took inspiration from the Belle Epoque through to the Jazz Age.

This is an original painting by American artist Platt Powell Ryder.  This scene of the Village Market Place was painted circa 1870, signed by Ryder lower right with ANA after his name, when he was an established member of the National Art Academy.   The painting is oil on board, framed underglass.  Excellent condition in what appears to be the original 19th century frame.  The painting itself measures 7 3/4X10 1/4 inches.  The frame itself has some chips to the corners.

This is one of the most impressive etchings by American artist  John Taylor Arms.  This image is titled: In Memoriam, the view of the  North Portal of Chartres Cathedral.  It was from his French Church series.   This etching was created and printed in 1939.  It is from the 2nd state of two.  Printed in an edition of 312.  The image measures 14 5/8X12 inches.  Printed on a medium weight wove type paper, Inscribed "to Roger and Belle Worsley", pencil signed and dated and also has a collectors red seal in the lower right corner of the sheet.  This image appears in the Fletcher catalog as image number 317

This is an original etching by James Whistler.  The title is: "Thames Police"  It was created in 1859 as part of his Thames Set series on life on the river.  The image measures 5 15/16X8 7/8 inches.  Printed on a thin laid type paper.  Very richly inked, the Fifth state of Six.  An early rich inking.  Good condition, there is a tear upper right corner of the border, away from the image area.  Enough border for proper presentation.

This is a very fine original drypoint and aquatint color etching by French artist Manuel Robbe.  The title is: Les Baigneuses (The Bathers).  THis image wascreated and printed in 1911, published by Cercle de la Librarie in an ediiton of 200.  This one is number 69.  Printed on a medium weight arches wove type paper, The Librrie blind stamp lower left and hand signed in pencil.  The image measures 15 3/8X22 1/4 inches.  The catalog lists this image as Merrill-Chase 102.  Excellent condition with a small repair in the lower border well away from the image area.

This is a fine color etching by French artist Edgar Chahine (1874-1947)  The title is: La Promenade created and printed in 1902. Hand signed lower border in pencil. This very large etching was printed in an edition of 50 color impressions and 50 in black and white.  The image was created using soft ground , aquatint and drypoint.  The image measures 18X26 inches.  Published by Edmund Sagot, Paris.  The image is in the Tabanelli catalog as imge number.  Considered to be one of the artist's most important prints. Note: This image is the cover illustration for the Bibliotheque Nationale catalog on Chahine.  This etching is framed and in nice condition, the coloring is subtle.

Oil on Academy Board, 12 x 9 inches, signed and inscribed "M. v. Schmaedel/München" lower right, period frame. The sitter is identified in a copy of a letter dated August 3, 1905, from Seth Mendell to William C. Davenport, President of The Machinists' Bank, Taunton, Massachusetts, in an envelope affixed to the back of the painting. Provenance: Estate of N. David Scotti, Providence, Rhode Island.
